It goes to illustrate just how critical the support of the two far right parties has been for the Maidan installed Government.

I was reading a couple of weeks ago that Yatsenyuk was frustrated with the Ukrainian parliament for ignoring tough but critical bills and voting through populist ones that committed the government to spending many billions it simply did not have.

This event is a major curve ball and it will be interesting to see what comes next. We know that the morale of many pro Kiev military units is poor and that the bounce it got from the MH17 propaganda was waning fast. An event like this could even prove the straw the breaks the camels back, especially if large numbers of young conscripts start asking for who and what exactly they are now being killed and maimed.

If the final collapse of the Southern Cauldron brigade comes hot on the heels of this........

Why do you think the current Kiev government has been trying very hard to get as much loans from IMF, World Bank, etc. as possible? They need cash fast in order to restart their economy again.

A Dutch radio news bulletin just said that the Dutch and Australian foreign ministers had talks in Kiev with the ( late ) Ukrainian government. The purpose is to have a "police" presence, meaning people capable of collecting evidence, and protected by military police in the area concerned sometime next week. This apparently without asking for the cooperation of the local authorities. And now that the Kiev government is deceased .....
It goes as fast as treacle.

Addenda: Surely they are not afraid of what they'll find?

"I am sorry Nicky It doesn't prove anything. All it shows is the Telegraph is working overtime and has it's people chasing leads on the ground. the Scorch mark spotted could have been form any number of military activities Including a SAM launch. and As the report indicates the position in question was Rebel occupied."

Two points established (beyond reasonable doubts, thanks to the Telegraph) ) and could be seen on space photos:
crash site and (most probable) rebel launch site. Crash site is on the edge of Buk horizontal range coverage.
Boeing was hit even further west - disintegration trail is about 15 to 17 km plus.
Which means that fired from (supposed) site within rebel controlled territory Buk missile simply could not reach the incoming plane.
Russian Ministry of Defense demonstrated space photos of temporary field position of two Ukrainian Buk launchers 12 km south-west of Torez. Ukrainian Buks were observed there right before the tragedy and disappeared the next day.
Their position fits nicely within the striking range of Buk missiles and (most) probable missile hit point.

still doesn't mean anything, MA17 was fragmented and did not come down in peices that means she could have come down on a glide slope allowing drift beyond the Buk's Range.

Ukrainian Prime Minister Yatsenyuk announces resignation
Published July 24, 2014Associated PressFacebook226 Twitter180

KIEV, Ukraine – Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk announced his resignation Thursday, opening the way for new elections that would reflect the country's starkly changed political scene after the ouster of pro-Russian President Viktor Yanukovych in February.

Yatsenyuk, a supporter of closer ties with Europe and a key participant in the protests that toppled Yanukovych, made the announcement from the dais of Parliament after two parties said they would pull out of the governing coalition. He said Parliament could no longer do its work and pass necessary laws.

President Petro Poroshenko, elected to replace Yanukovych May 25, earlier praised the withdrawal of the two parties. He said that "all opinion polls, and direct conversations with people, show that society wants a complete rebooting of the government."

Poroshenko's calls for political renewal suggests the resignation and new elections are the result of planning and political maneuvering, not chaos.

Yatsenyuk took over as prime minister just short of five months ago supported by a coalition of pro-European parties. They took power after Yanukovych was driven from office by months of street protests on Kiev's Independence Square, or Maidan.

The protests began over Yanukovych's refusal to sign a sweeping trade deal with the European Union, but swelled to include wider grievances such as the government's attempts to suppress the protests with riot police, corruption, and lack of progress in modernizing the economy.

"I think this is a fully expected and planned development," said Balazs Jarabik, visiting scholar at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. "The president and the government coalition looked for ways to clear the legal way for an early election, as they are under a lot of pressure from Maidan and the public."

The president can dismiss Parliament for new elections if no new government is formed in 30 days.

The current Parliament was originally dominated by Yanukovych supporters in the pro-Russian Party of Regions. That group has shrunk through defections and its members face an uncertain fate in new elections.

When he took office, Yatsenyuk's administration was expected to be a brief one because it was taking over with the government almost broke and facing the likelihood of adopting unpopular measures to satisfy conditions for rescue loans from the International Monetary Fund. It succeeded in landing the IMF bailout and last week IMF officials said the government was meeting almost all its financial targets.

The government faces tensions with Russia which termed Yanukovych's ouster a coup, seized Ukraine's Crimea region and cut off natural gas supplies in a price dispute.

It has also battled a pro-Russian insurgency in which rebels armed with heavy weapons such as tanks and anti-aircraft missiles have seized public buildings and battled government troops. Russia denies supporting the rebels.

The nationalist Svoboda party and the Udar party led by former boxer Vitali Klitschko pulled out of Yatsenyuk's coalition.

Parliament speaker Oleksandr Turchynov said it was up to Udar and Svoboda to propose a candidate for temporary prime minister to lead the government until early parliamentary elections can be held.

I just found in my paper a short article saying the investigation is being organized, that several Russians are members of the team but that only travelling to the place of the wreckage will take place at an unknown time. The paper talk with the chairman of the Dutch Investigation council that has the leading role in the investigation.

I haven't watched the video, but nicky is saying that MH17 drifted *INTO* the supposed rebel Buk's range. The actual location of missile impact is supposedly out of that range.

I think we can officially put the media accusation that Rebels tampered with MH17's black boxes to rest now.

Data Flight Data Recorder MH17 downloaded

Following yesterday’s press release, the international investigation team led by the Dutch Safety Board, continued the work on the Cockpit Voice Recorder and the Flight Data Recorder today. The work took place at the Farnborough headquarters of the Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) in the United Kingdom. The international investigation team has conducted a thorough examination of the Flight Data Recorder. The Flight Data Recorder was slightly damaged but the memory module was intact. Furthermore, no evidence or indications of manipulation of the recorder was found. Following the examination, the data was successfully downloaded and the Flight Data Recorder contained valid data of the flight. The data from both recorders will be further analysed and combined.

A thorough analysis of the information obtained will take time and the results will be included in the investigation.
