Can't be certain on the numbers of VLS; but the VLS "bumps" look more than 4x4 and almost look 4x6 or even 4x8....

Will have to wait for a top view.

What SAM do you think for the VLS? Interesting to see where the AShM location would be, interesting whether possible as VLS, perhaps smaller AShM

Quad-Pack FM-3000N and HHQ-9E?

Since the VLS space looks pretty deep and there does not look to be openings for slant AShM launchers (big assumptions at this point), then using/tesing a Universal VLS like the HT-1E would seem to make sense to me.

Using H/AJK-16 would not be pushing the boundry at this point. It'll just be a corvette, a powerful stealthy one; but a corvette.

Whereas a UVLS would add tube counts, increase distributed lethality, turn it into an ASBM platform, and open up new flexibilities and tactics for PLAN.....all at the cost of a corvette.

Interesting opinions and I would be very surprised if it is the case that Corvette has HHQ-9 series :) ... but it is not impossible though

FM-3000N is only the export name. If it comes to official service in the PLAN it will have a different designation, starting with HHQ-xx. HT-1E is the export marketing name for U-VLS.

Note the U-VLS has both CM-103 and CM-803B, which are also both ground and antiship missiles. CM-803B is the export name for YJ-83B. Here you don't need a slant launcher anymore, as the same anti-ship missile is now VLS adapted.

A ship may well equip with U-VLS but it doesn't mean it's automatically HHQ-9 supporting. It may well use the quad pack HHQ for AD and VLS YJ-83B for anti-ship.
