As they say, play stupid games win stupid prizes. It’s no accident that the west has all these issues with low trust of vaccines and an epidemic of misinformation to rival their Covid disasters precisely because their media is more interested in political and racist point scoring then trying to give good solid information and present an unified front to actually better fight Covid.

I say fuck them. They were never going to buy Chinese vaccines and their scaremongering isn’t really going to sway many because they can’t even make enough vaccines for their own people never mind try to match China in ‘vaccine diplomacy’; as if somehow going out of your way to speed up delivery of life saving vaccines during a world wide pandemic is somehow a selfish and insidious act. All the while western nations ‘selflessly’ monopolise all the supplies of their own ‘superior’ vaccine and are gracious enough to offer any leftovers to developing countries. How generous.

In a way, it’s actually a sign of how bad things are getting that the western msm are resorting to such crude and transparent smear campaigns.

Would love to see how they continue to spin to square their circle to explain how countries buying ‘inferior’ Chinese vaccines are getting their outbreaks under control and reopening when the west is still trapped in its endless cycles of premature relaxation and fresh new waves of infections and deaths.

This is what happens when your culture and society gets so deluded and perverted as to accept a ‘post-truth’ norm in their politics and world view. You can only lie and spin so much before reality bitchslaps you with a wake up call. Ignore it and you are only setting yourself for another in the not to distant future. China went through its own shameful period like this during the Qing dynasty. Maybe the west needs it’s own century of humiliation to learn some hard truths.
"You cannot fix stupid", said Ron White, a standup comedian.

Just going through a dozen of Muslim forums, I can see many Muslims buy into the Xinjiang genocide propaganda especially those who residing in Western countries. Although they might still be minority at the moment but in the long term that might change.

There are more than just western led narrative but the western led narrative is still the dominated one. China BRI just needs to deal with the ruling elites. Beside China is still viewed postively in most developing world but the Western media and government are trying to chipping away that by spreading misinformation such as Xinjiang genocide lie. I never say China has been alienated by the world. You keep jumping to the conclusion. I am saying the Chinese government, bureaucrats and media suck at propaganda and PR.
If I was to entertain the suggestion that China needs a better P.R. I would very much love to see Eric Li as one of the spokesperson for China as the man knows how to body slam every nonsensical and farcical western propaganda and he can do so in both languages (English and Putonghua) with his sardonic, acerbic style which can flummoxed westerners straight to their faces.

I think Eric is doing just fine speaking for China in his current role, though I'm perplexed why there doesn't seem to be any video of him debating democracy in the post-COVID era.

Anyway, I think people need to stop ragging on Chinese public broadcasters and officials for "bad PR". Public institutions have duties and responsibilities. Gao Fu, as the head of the Chinese CDC, has the responsibility to speak as a scientist. I am not the least bit surprised his words were twisted by Western media, as science is always full of nuances. Look at how often climate change deniers manipulate the words of climate scientists.

China's hope of winning the PR war against the West doesn't lie in state-run media institutions like CGTN or Global Times. It lies in privately operated organizations like Guancha (of which Eric Li is a co-founder). We need more such institutions to deliver logical, persuasive arguments that advances China's positions, and we need more personal advocates such as 磊哥 to advance those positions on an emotional level.
