Dont try to whitewash this. China´s vacination program IS falling behind, according to this article.
@Orthan

By Bloomberg!!! Is the author in China writing this report or his story is based on some anonymous sources. It's a click bait article, it stated that China had successfully dealt with the pandemic which is true, what the article remiss is due to that they had the luxury of time to help others who is in dire need and for public good. That my friend is what we call leadership.

So if China keeps all the vaccines produced for herself you would say that's bad because that's hoarding; if China sends vaccines to countries in more urgent need due to active outbreak you would say that's bad because they're falling behind in vaccination effort?

How can one win?

I took my first shot on Tuesday. On the 2nd day, my arm that received the vaccine was sore but I experienced no other side effects. My parents reported similar side effects but nothing else.

Almost everyone I know feels fine after their first shot (either Pfizer or Moderna). It’s the second shot that packs the most punch. Good luck!

Wow, thanks for the heads up. My wife took the first jab two weeks ago as an essential worker working in NHS. (Whereas I as a lecturer is not essential. Lol)

Anyway, she was knocked out most of the day sleeping in her bed. So it affects everyone differently I guess.

Are you saying that this information is false?

Im not talking about each extreme scenario that you are saying. Im talking about china getting behind the US and EU vacination programs.

Why does China need to rush to vaccinate its population?

The USA and Europe have an out-of-control pandemic.
In comparison, cases in China are back down to near zero. ZERO. And that is not a typo.

If required, it is straightforward for China to ramp up vaccine production and vaccination.

Not doubting you per se but yes coming from Bloomberg you had to take it with a grain of salt. Bro put yourself in China position , you had successfully beat the pandemic why not help others that may enhance your standing diplomatically and also economically, helping others to recover is good for business so that we can trade again.

It seems that china´s vacination program is getting behind those from the US and Europe:

China has sucessfully contained the virus but if it doesnt not ramp up vacination, it risks getting left behind in the end after all.
For once they are respecting the wishes of their people, and you are blaming them? I guess when they enforce the vaccination protocol, you will cry “violation of human rights!”

Seriously though, it seems like a combination of lack of urgency and safety concerns for the vaccines. The latter part is shared by most people in the world. Many people in the US are also concerned about the safety of our vaccines. In early January, a survey at one of the biggest hospitals in Houston says that ~40% of its medical staff doesn’t want the COVID vaccines because of safety concerns. With the Chinese, I guess they have the luxury of saying “ok, I don’t actually need the vaccine as of now. I’ll wait and see how safe this thing is...” With us, we don’t have the luxury of waiting. We are in a much more desperate situation. At least to the people in the US, the vaccines are the only solution to this disaster. That’s why the government is pushing hard to get as many people vaccinated and as fast as possible.

I myself was hesitant about our two main vaccines until early January. I swung to the vaccination camp completely when I saw the clinical data that came out in December and was convinced that it’s safe. Of course I had to brush aside my own concerns of the potential long term side effects because of the urgent situation in the country. I am becoming so desperate to get out the current situation. I had to tell myself “I need to survive this so that I can have a chance to worry about the long term thing ten, twenty, thirty years down the line”. The Chinese, on the other hand, have the luxury of waiting.

Let’s wait and see how they resolve this issue. People make mistakes. The same goes with the governments. Their current comfort level may have made them a little complacent. How they fix their problems will be an important measure of their competence.

Lol you guys are wasting your time with someone who simply cannot comprehend it. He probably also think Switzerland is a very poor country and "very behind" because it has a tiny nominal GDP. New Zealand and Australia must also be so behind the roll out. Forget that Covid isn't rampaging them and everything else.

The nuances that escape him are a little bit too basic for anyone to bother with the amount of effort that's been put here.

One of my best friends told me that his reactions were worse after his first shot than his second one. He had his first shot back in mid December and he was feeling bad for several weeks. It became so bad that they had to push back his second shot for several days. After his second shot, he just felt tired for a day or two. Then he’s back to normal. Everyone is different. I hope your wife will enjoy her second shot more than her first one.
