? These are the 2 researchers credited for that ranking. All that news, all that scientific data coming out of China? That don't count? Why is Taiwan on the list instead of China? What a sly way to portray Taiwan as 'separate' from China. A-holes!

I don't buy their "lack of publicly available data on testing" excuse:

1) It can't be language barrier. They have no problems getting data from Taiwan.
2) It can't be 'Communist govt' problem, because Vietnam is on the list.
3) It can't be a 'remoteness' problem, because they could obtain data from Rwanda, and Libya.
4) It can't be unreliable data, because India still made it on their list.

Imagine if China was on the list. It would be at the top based on the performance to population ratio. Then the #1 on the list won't be a Caucasian, anglophone country anymore.

So who are the Lowy Institute:

I am going to seriously enjoy the look on these idiots faces when the Vaccine being rolled out in the western world ends up going completely off rails and these people end up begging China for help on there hands and knees while there entire world crumples into ruin. If they cannot take the truth and are still busy slandering China without proof, then the only solution to there racial bias and bullshit is a DF straight into the parliament house with most of there leadership inside. That will finally wake them up to the reality of the world doesn't revolve around western scum bags spitting on China while painting themselves as heroes. They totally deserve a fate worse than death and no... they shouldn't have anyone to save them this like in the movies, they need to suffer the consequences

I believe just like the collapse of Soviet Union, propaganda can only go so far and I think it's going to be a very long battle but what matter most is China continue to focus on its people while others are welcome to spend most of their energy and resources on China bashing instead of fixing their own problem.

Frankly speaking I used to feel disgust but now I tend to smile and shake my head on those negative comments and such towards China as it reminds me of the story of the race between hare and tortoise.

I don't think I need to say which one is hare and which one is tortoise.

For once is not British shitstirring, instead its just BoJo continuing to ape Trump in pursuing a short-sighted and stupid British-first agenda.

Expect the EU to remember this (as well as earlier British Karen moves like threatening to break international law) and for Britain to encounter the full might of EU bureaucratic obstinance whenever they need a favour from the EU ( and they will need a lot of favours from the EU due to their pathetically bare bones brexit deal, which was only reached because the British took out all the British asks the EU would not agree to in order to meet BoJo’s ridiculous deadline).

92% is pretty good but it is only 10 days after immunity supposed to be kicked in. if 33% efficacy rate for the first dose is a good indication, then 70%-80% efficacy probably is closer to the true than 95% that claimed by Pfizer.

Lots of issues with these studies.

People who manage to not get infected a year after the pandemic started and by the time they get 2nd dose are very careful in the first place.

Well, after almost a year, we are still getting ~200K new cases everyday in the US. These people also managed to stay healthy for almost a year before finally getting infected... I do agree that it is still too early to tell the true efficacy. with the highest inoculated population, Israel is the focus now.

A Xinhua reporter visited a village under lockdown in Northern China. The situation seems well under control. A number of local volunteers are there to assist in enforcement as well as assistance for the needy.


But a comment from someone living in US provides spark contrast with the US situation:
I watch these with happiness for my Chinese friends; sadness for the situation here in the US. While in China people pull together to help each other, here in the us, In my small town, most people STILL don’t believe the pandemic is real and I have seen locals who ask for help because they have conditions that could put them at high risk? They were mocked, harassed, I actually had my mask pulled off and a young man coughed in my face and called me a “sheep”. It saddens me to see our communities fall apart and I honestly don’t think anything can get through to these people. On the other hand, we have China leading by example and proving who the REAL leaders of tomorrow’s world will be.

The study also found that the vaccine appeared to be 85.6% effective against the U.K. variant, also known as B.1.1.7. A separate phase two study in South Africa showed that the vaccine isn’t nearly as effective against a new strain ravaging that country.

The shot was still considered effective in protecting against the virus, but at an efficacy rate of just 49.4% among 44 Covid-19 cases in South Africa where 90% of the cases contained the troubling new variant, the company said.
