Pathological liars, lying D:?

  1. Production was going horrible under "Operation Warp Speed" but they assumed it would pick up.
  2. Trump Admin lies about them holding back a second dose in storage to reduce their target by 50%.
  3. Biden calls on Trump to release the 2nd dose for other people so that everyone can get dose #1 ASAP or he will do it on his first day.
  4. Governors call on the Trump CDC / HHS to release the reserves
  5. Trump CDC / HHs admits there were never second doses in storage, they aren't on track.

Operation warp speed?! The USA these days is really a facade of its former glory. Back then they would deliver the goods AND a fancy name. These day's it's 80% marketing (and lying), 10% badmouthing others and trashtalking, 10% actual effort.

Do we know for sure. Or it is still premature to claim the new variant is definitely more transmissible. If this is true, then covid is mutated faster than many of us have thought.

In every scenario explored by the CDC, the U.K. strain, which British researchers estimate is roughly 50 percent more transmissible than the more common

strain, will account for a majority of cases in the United States by some point in March.
The CDC released modeling data to back up its forecast showing a rapid spike in infections linked to the U.K. strain. The agency said the emergence of these mutation-laden variants requires greater efforts to limit viral spread — immediately, even before the U.K. variant becomes commonplace.

This one is actually the first vaccine candidate in China that entered and finished phase I and II trail. It is also the one that was planned and cancelled for phase III trail in Canada. It is developed by Major General Chen Wei of PLA military medical academy, she is also a member of the China Academy of Engineering.

It is very strange to me that China did not plan more countries besides Canada for phase III trail for this candidate. Without the cancellation it could have been months earlier for it to get approved. It could be even earlier than the mRNAs because this one is the first to finish phase II and review was good.

I followed phase 1 and 2 trial of this vaccine closely. The problem was because it's a recombinant adenovirus vector vaccine it has issues with people either not responding or responding weakly to the vaccine if they already have resistance to human type 5 adenovirus (hence the Ad5 part of its name) from prior infection. Adenovirus infection can be similar to common cold and in some populations the resistance can be quite high.

Sputnik V and the Oxford vaccine are also recombinant adenovirus vector vaccine, the Oxford vaccine uses a chimpanzee adenovirus (hence ChAdOx) so there's less chance of prior resistance in humans. However it looks like all three are not performing that well. Given this and the fact that the inactivated virus vaccine was going so well people lost interest so Ad5-nCoV wasn't pushed for phase 3 very hard.

Question should be why is Russia bothering with Ad5-nCoV if they already have Sputnik V which are quite similar.
