Probably because up until the start of the pandemic China constituted a large percentage (majority?) of global production - which was fair enough, because if you don't want to build your own factories someone else has the right to fill that gap. People aren't going to go without if they can't get it somewhere else.

Given the ease of buying masks made in China, one has to wonder why Meng Wanzhou went with the Taiwanese masks. Maybe it's just a coincidence.

I quite like China, I just don't like the CCP. A little joke once in a while never hurt anyone.

But that's very silly and surely you can understand why you're grasping at straws. Meng used a Taiwanese mask once. At least shown to be once. Is that really a big deal? Is that really worthy of concluding she doesn't trust mainland masks? With the implication being that most mainland masks are untrustworthy? We know that's untrue otherwise the mainland wouldn't be one of the countries with the least Covid cases now, thanks in large to the effectiveness of mainland made masks.

it's always "China wants stability". I hate this mentality. China may want stability but the US wants to attack you. So there is a saying, if you want peace prepare for war.

China doesn't understand that by acting scared and weak is not going to do you any good. Do you really think the US won't attack China if China acts like a coward?

If you project strength, even if it's bluffing. That has a better chance of preventing the US from attacking you. Then acting weak and spineless.

Small dogs bark, big dogs bite.

It was a joke, calm down. :)

Really? Which ones in particular were you thinking of?

Ahh the old lighten up it was just a joke routine. The real joke is how well humoured the Chinese actually are because I don't see any other group of people being able to tolerate even the slightest provocation. I guess everyone's a snowflake except Chinese ... relatively speaking of course. No wonder Chinese are such hardy people.

This annoys me a bit. Here's China making it's eighth shipment of medical donations to Venezuela. But not a peep from the MSM. of course this put China in a good light, and that won't do.

I loved the comment from the Venezuelan foreign ministry when asked:
Q: And what did you received from the US
A: sanctions and blockades

A total of 17 tons of medical supplies arrived in Venezuela this Tuesday from China, as part of economic cooperation and brotherhood ties between the two nations. The shipment, the eight since the pandemic began, arrived at the Maiquetía International Airport, in La Guaira state, on a flight carried out by Conviasa airline.
In statements broadcasted by Venezolana de Televisión, the Minister for Health, Carlos Alvarado, detailed that this new shipment includes 300,000 rapid tests and 200,000 PCR tests for Covid-19 diagnosis. Similarly, more than 105,000 units of drugs for intensive care patients, 55 ventilators and 50 oxygen concentrators, which makes it possible to “depend less on the oxygen that is purchased from private companies.”

While the Western world is ignoring the rest of the world, the rest of the world is coalescing around China.

I actually find that quite amusing. Chinese people - at least the online nationalists - get offended at the drop of a hat these days. Plenty of Chinese users have been banned since I've been on the forum because they couldn't take criticism of China/praise of its strategic opponents and it all boiled to the surface.

Recently Chinese fans of Taiwanese celebrities got upset when they

sending out social messages praising China's national day. Not saying things in support of Taiwanese independence, just trying to stay neutral and being quiet.

That's it. That takes the biscuit. He took that one right out of Trump's play nook.

Remember when Trump was the laughing stock of the world for suggesting injecting disinfectant and sunshine where the sun hint shine? Then next day cone out with the line:

"I was being sarcastic"! Lol. Well that's our Mr T right there.

I actually find that quite amusing. Chinese people - at least the online nationalists - get offended at the drop of a hat these days. Recently Chinese fans of Taiwanese celebrities got upset when they weren't actively sending out social messages praising China's national day. Not saying things in support of Taiwanese independence, just trying to stay neutral and being quiet.

Yeah that crowd does seem a little touchy to me as well. But it's also apparent to me this isn't unique to Chinese nationalists. I see the exact same elsewhere. Do you not?

Anyway for the whole "chill out it's just a joke" line, I have never seen that go well with anyone on the receiving end. You could tell the person to not be so sensitive but it's honestly up to them how sensitive they are and if offense is caused but unintended or not, it is there nonetheless. I'm sure you wouldn't respond well to someone saying to you "chill out it's just a joke" whatever the context it. Because to them you're sensitive about the topic and to you, they've crossed some line.

I'm not offended by it but also didn't realise you were making a joke. That actually improves my opinion of you... as opposed to thinking you actually believed that.

Sorry for the sidetrack. Just got me thinking about the whole "please relax" kind of statement and how it usually has the opposite effect no matter who it is.

Are you saying you are deliberately trolling to get Chinese nationalist fanboys banned from this forum. And you're taking credit for It?

This is a new low for you. Even right now members are saying a few post back of how you do make meaningful contribution on this forum. And now you blew all that out of the water. Gee.

No wait for it. Tomorrow you will say it us all a joke! Lol.
