There's no need to worry. NMPA has strict protocols for vaccines and it's a highly professional organization. Xi Jinping may have a (IMO extremely unfortunate) fondness of traditional Chinese medicine, but he's certainly not Trump. According to the latest NHC press briefing, when Xi Jinping toured a vaccine development lab on March 2, he stressed that safety must always be the first priority. So no political pressures for speed.

The National Health Commission outlined the status of vaccine developments in yesterday's press briefing:

Inactivated: animal trials, world leading (not surprising as China had access to the actual virus long before other countries did)
Attenuated: animal trials, world leading
Subunit: animal trials, on par with international peers
Recombinant vector: animal trials, on par with international peers
DNA: animal trials, on par with international peers
mRNA: pre-clinical, roughly on par with international peers but may fall behind as China has limited experience here.

Inactivated, attenuated and subunit methods are the traditional techniques, whereas the others are newer techs. I'm not surprised by their progress so far. This is what is expected of a world-leading medical power.

I would like to remind everyone that they have finished the fast phases of the vaccine development. This is akin to building a house. At first, the building progresses very fast. Merely a week after they lay the foundation, a house magically appears out of nowhere. Then Sheetrock goes up, roof goes up, bricks go up. A complete house appears to complete out of nowhere. You are so excited and simply amazed. then the slow phase begins. The 80% finished house seems to stay that way for weeks on end without any obvious/observable changes. You begin to get frustrated. What's going on? Why are they slowing down? It turns out that it takes much longer time to finish the little things and detailed stuff. Many things simply cannot be rushed. You have to wait until a layer of paint to dry, then put on another layer. Can't rush it. Inspections need to be done at various stages, etc, etc, etc.

Developing a vaccine is similar. Be patient. Again, the important thing during an outbreak is to do your part. Wash your hands, stay at home and away from any large crowd. Be alert but not panic. Stay happy and well-rested. Keep your body well nourished. When everyone does their parts, virus will have nowhere to go and slowly die off. Just imagine this is a wild fire. When you clear out all the small bushes and trees in the path of a wild fire, the fire will run out of fuel to burn and slowly die off. The same thing with a viral outbreak. Don't count on some superhero to come to your rescue. Do your own part.

This new version or upgraded sinodefence forum is quite annoying for me. Can't go to or return to a specific page and have to roll all the way down to go to previous or next page. Time consuming. I am living on borrowed time. LOL.
Or is there's something I don't know? Sorry I put it in this thread as I spend most time here cross-checking quotes/replies.
