I think personally I will feel safer with an Omnicon-specific vaccine, then I will slowly go back to normal with annual boosters. I know technically by the time an Omnicron-specific vaccine is available, there is already another sublineage variant that is circulating, but still.... atleast Omnicron-specific vaccine is closer to the Alpha-specific one that is two years old lol.

Honestly, I'm completely shocked that China hasn't forced everyone to be 100% vaccinated (with special exemptions for allergic or special cases). It would be complete waste of time for past 2.5 years to lockdown everything and still have 140 million people (10% of population) unvaccinated... that's larger than entirety of Russia, double Germany, or half of US population....that is irresponsible.

Its just me or something weird is happening in Taiwan, Covid related children deaths are occurring almost daily and the population of Taiwan is not that big. Maybe Covid is triggering some autoimmune disease in this kids?
On a per capita basis, Taiwan is probably making a world record now - another death record in the past 24 hours or so:

They are definitely off the charts, but what is worrying is that Covid deaths at that young age are usually very rare and more so in a small population like Taiwan, but it happens daily there. Is there something medically weird going on, some autoimmune problem or the Taiwanese mainstream media is more sensational than the rest of the world.

There has been a lot of research into Dogs sniffing out diseases recently, you have allergy identifying dogs, cancer sniffing dogs, seizure alert dogs etc.
The only problem is that training dogs to do such task is expensive and time consuming.
Guide dogs are many 10's of thousands of dollars each, so that is a lot of test kits worth.
Also needs specialised dog handlers and others to perform confirmation test on suspected cases.

They should strengthen indoor ventilation and filtering to prevent or reduce the severity these outbreaks.

Agreed with that but in general I think China's dynamic zero COVID strategy needs change. Open the country to those who have been triple vaxed. Or something. Omicron is too infectious to be stopped like this. Too much human and economic toll.
Its not mass lockdown perse, it just asking people to stay home for 2 days during the weekends so they can test. Shanghai will not impose mass lockdown again, it is under control but these nervous officials are overdoing it again because of their initial fck UPS.

As long they can trace cases they still have a giant window. Also you learn and adapt with each battle.
