Nope. The reality is that everyone wants more ICU beds and medical staff, but resources are limited and that’s not going to change. Especially for China since its still a developing country.

And everyone wants a higher vaccination rate but the reality is its never going to be 100%. Especially after 15 months, its not going to go much higher than it already is.

The difference is that at least China has a large vaccinated population now whereas for countries that followed the Western model of Covid response, it was going wild before any vaccines.

Not everyone. Many countries have multiple times more medical resources than China. Its simply impossible for China to follow the exact same pathway as other countries on opening up and living with covid

Looking at the WHO for guidance for pandemic control is bad. Their pre-pandemic predictions turned out to be completely wrong. Their guidance was basically to do whatever western countries were doing, e.g. they were against lockdowns until the moment western countries started doing them.

Of all things, doing what the Indians do is even worse. Did you see how bad things got in India? I don't think a country exists in the world that has such disregard for its own people.

SHANGHAI/LONDON, May 10 (Reuters) - China risks just over 1.5 million COVID deaths if it drops its tough zero-COVID policy without any safeguards such as ramping up vaccination and access to treatments, according to new modelling by scientists in China and the United States.

I think is a bit 1.5 million is a bit exaggerated. I think could be closer to 400-500,000 deaths in a single COVID wave which will be tough times for their healthcare system.

Start pushing out vaccine pass type of restriction, if you're not vaccinated then you won't be able to use many public utilities or enter establishments, couple this measure with propaganda calling these restrictions as way to protect the elderly while the vaccine rate is low and promise the restriction will be removed after reaching a comfortable vaccination rate.

Agree, the lockdowns should be for the unvaccinated and the children of unvaccinated parents. Every single time there is an outbreak they should be forced to stay in home until the outbreak subsides or they get vaccinated.
