HOUSTON, May 10 (Reuters) - In the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, pulmonologist Joseph Varon offered an opinion that made headlines around the world and went viral on social media. He was fighting two wars, he said: one against COVID and one against stupidity.

Yeah you have to love when financial analysts influence the health related decisions in a country.

To be fair most Americans died from the older variants and the mostly the virulent Delta variant not the Omicron variant, would the US have done good against older variants (Vaccinations, isolation, social distancing, mass wearing) by the time a variant like Omicron spread in the US they would have like a few hundred thousands deaths instead of a million.
If this virus continue to evolve to milder (hopefully and fingers crossed) countries that did well against more virulent variants would reap the benefits of not dealing with the more virulent versions of the same virus.

According to a recent report I read from a Canadian news station (CTV) saying that 41% of deaths from Covid-19 from the months of January to March were from people that were fully vaccinated with a caveat that most of the people dying were still from unvaccinated folks. But the result itself isn't that encouraging to say the least because that number or percentage of people dying are still pretty high. Which is why there are growing concerns and also consideration of reinstating the mask and vaccine mandate if the rising in cases keeps going higher and higher.

But what's puzzling about this situation is that the need or request of $22 BILLION from the Biden administration seems to get a back seat for the need to fund the war in Ukraine as if that situation (as bad as it is) takes precedent over the health and safety of the American people.

And one would wonder if the current administration and it's agencies responsible for the prevention of Covid-19 and other infectious diseases have made contingency plans that are well reserved for mass testing kits, masks, ventilators, medicines, hospital beds etc..if the worst case scenarios according to their own modeling materialize. The need to blame China has long expired not to mention the shifting of the fault to Donald Trump at this juncture would be just laughably hilarious. But nothing is impossible from these charlatans and the media enablers that dominates America and it's western syncopants.

Immunity is difficult to estimate in the US, 70% are fully vaccinate, so the vaccinated will "appear" like they are dying more because they make the majority and the unvaccinated most of them probably suffered some natural infection, that is like a vaccination with a much greater risk of getting severe disease or dying.
A number more concerning will be deaths/infections which stand at 7 for every 1000 infections a bit higher than Hong Kong, South Korea and Shanghai.

Then this pandemic is f*cking over and all this masking and testing the this damn organization still expect everyone to comply is just a waste of people time. China should end with their vaccinations, ramp up COVID censorship and not count the deaths because nobody is dying if you don't count them. They should do what the Indians did, say that only a fraction of 4 millions die and declare that as a victory.

In my view, China’s Zero-Covid policy was absolutely correct. However, it’s now reached the end of its shelf life and Beijing should just “let her blow” as the spread of the virus across China is inevitable. China’s argument should be twofold:

1) The Zero-Covid policy was a success because it bought the country two years of safety while vaccines and treatments could be developed.

2) If the whole world had followed China’s policy, Covid would have been killed in its crib in 2020 and the BA.1 and more transmissible variants would never have had a chance to develop.

Now that China has achieved its aims with the Zero-Covid policy, it should declare victory and end the lockdowns. The idea that zero covid was going to be kept up forever was never realistic and probably never the goal.

That's plain wrong. Zero covid is necessary because:
1) insufficient number of ICU beds + associated medical staff
2) grossly insufficient vaccination (3-doses) rate of the elderly
