I'm in Shenzhen. We had 2 cases yesterday. I believe the whole city was tested after that. I got tested last night around 10:30. There were a few hundred people there with 8 test stations. We were pooled into groups of 10. The lines moved quickly. The whole process took 10 mins after I got there. This afternoon my health code was updated to show a negative result within the past 48 hours. It was a painless process. Everyone was very cooperative. I don't think there is any new case today, but I'm expecting they may pop up from the tests done yesterday. If so, we may have to be tested in another couple of days. They did do contact tracing on the original 2 cases and found around 100 close and secondary contacts and probably isolated them.

There is no lockdown. But some apartment complexes require showing a negative test result within the past 48 hours on the health code to enter.
That's simply freaking amazing with regards to the speed of testing and how the gov't reacts when it comes to test almost all the population of the city. If am not mistaken the population size of Shenzhen is millions more than Toronto and yet we here can't be bothered to get tested or be tested because the government in it's collective wisdom was and is unable to procure, made all the necessary PCR kits available to all of it's supposed population of 14.6 million people for the province (Toronto pop. 6.8 million)

We're advised to count 5 days from the outset of our symptoms as a form of quarantine and observe our conditions. If it worsens stay home if then 5 days from your initial symptoms your condition improves you're good to go i.e. go back to work. No testing necessary to confirm if you're free of Covid-19. It's crazy but at least we have FREEDOM AND OUR GOVERNMENT KNOWS HOW TO SAY SORRY.

I don't remember Doug Ford ever saying he's sorry for the mess we are in. But frankly, I don't think we can place the fault on him alone. No politicians/parties in his shoe would have done any better, given the political nature of this pandemic and how Canada collectively decided on the "flatten the curve" approach.

The "sorry part" he did say "sorry folks" for going back to level 2 that require temporary closures of cinemas, gyms, restaurants etc...because of the inconvenience and loss of jobs to the people in Ontario. I realized that government here in the west over complicate things too much and in the process commits a cardinal sin IMHO of half assing the necessary solutions in order to tackle the problem seriously. Because they're afraid of being "authoritarian/draconian" to the people thar will inevitably label the strict actions required regardless.

As I personally told my workplace at the outset of the virus. That the government and business should have synergized their efforts into tackling the virus and place the most strictest measures possible (China style) otherwise we're more likely to go back and forth with opening and closing if the measures chosen are half baked which will inevitably lead and understably so for people to grow weary and tired of the constant change. Plus, we could and should have allowed vaccines that are not just MrNA tech but also allowed inactivated vaccines to ensure people do actually have real choices and not the false choice that both government and media's here in the west love to falsely advertise.

We could have also use the swathe of immigrants in the country that have medical backgrounds and are looking into working into the health care field but because the labour laws of the province and country is so byzantine the government couldn't even be expected to operate out of the box thinking and look for novel approach in ensuring that we can utilize the human capital we have in our disposal. Doing so would not only foster greater attraction for the country but also bring solidarity (working together) and closeness to immigration weary Canadian public. Instead, the news is being bombarded with "hospitals short on staff of Doctors, nurses"....

I understand that what I wrote is nothing but a pipe dream but I could not think of anything better to showcase the supposed efficacy and advantages that a "democratic system" has over the autocratic system of countries Canada has latched itself with the U.S. in terms of the China threat theory. Instead, all I see is finger pointing, opposition idiotic politicians trying to find issues to blame the incumbents so that they can pretend to do a better job. Media looks to sensationalize just about every issue since it's in a competition with social media like FB for information dissemination rather than doing actual informing. In my opinion as a long time residents of the country, it's quite a circus which is massively disappointing. But hey at least Canada is not Red China.

Not going to happen in any west countries ever since their MSM demonized the "China style" at the beginning of pandemic.

For the western public, it was as if the MSM deliberately burned down the better one of the two bridges to the safe house.

Syndrome of popularity democracy in terminal phase.

@ansy1968 bad news! Our administration has announced that they have found the first omicron in our community.
@SteelBird bro an advise, start stockpiling Leng Hua CTM, antibiotics and cough medicine, Yesterday we had reach 26,980 cases the highest we ever recorded and it may not be the last, as 70% of those infected are in Metro Manila. There are long queues in the medicine store, people are lining up to buy the basic cough medicine as they are getting infected by severe sore throat infection. I have one to and seek medical advise, my doctor friend told me to take an antibiotic and as a save measure I also took Leng Hua, just like what happen to your father within 3 days I'm fine.

If you don't have anything else for the sore throat you can gargle with warm salt water.
I always have ibuprofen around as well as some gargle solution.
I have been taking Vitamin D regularly for the last couple of months as well.

Cough medicine, tea, honey.
Also do salt water gargle

I had covid and the sore throat thing i had was unbearable. Cough medicine alone wasn't enough for me

Here what I did to pass through this:

Gargle with warm salt water
1 hr later -> tea with honey
1 hr later -> cough medicine
1 hr later -> honey
Repeat after 3-4 hours

(Also don't forget antibiotics)
