From this and other negative news articles, you can see that the media offensive is in full effect. Here is an interview by CNN with the president of Seychelles. The latter came into the radars of western MSM because of a recent spike in Covid cases. The interviewer seems to be British judging from her accent. Behind that smile, she, like most MSM anchors, had only concerns for China and China.
At 4.30, she asks her first question in an attempt to bad mouth Sinopharm
At 6.30 she trys to bait the President to agree that China tried to bribe Seychelles by giving away free vaccines.
“There’s nothing very surprising. It’s consistent with what they have claimed previously, but it does not completely eliminate the doubts about Sinopharm,” said Jin Dong-yan, a medical professor at the University of Hong Kong who was not involved with the study.
He raised doubts about how protective the vaccine was based on a recent surge of cases in the island nation of Seychelles, which had vaccinated a large majority of its population with the Sinopharm vaccine.

The government of Seychelles has been really upset by this because they are constantly pointed out as if their vaccination campaign has been a failure.
This quote from an AP article
For Seychelles, since their economy relies on tourism so much, doubts on their campaign are especially painful. The authorities have repeatedly stressed that the majority of cases are within the unvaccinated population. Moreover, as the president pointed out, the vaccinated positive cases are not requiring hospital care.
Personally, this really pisses me off. Firstly, this is basically racism, trying to make Chinese people look like cheats, liars, thieves, whatever. I have already seen people refer to Chinese vaccines as "basically saltwater". If these vaccines are such garbage, what are western nations offering? Nothing! Exports are still a trickle. DPP in Taiwan is hailing a shipment of a mere ~100,000 of Moderna like it will save the island, when the total quantity can only protect a couple towns.
Furthermore, the efficacy of the J&J vaccine is worse than Sinopharm, but it is still hailed as the "one-shot" to boost uptake. I have yet to read the same kind of negative press for it. If you want to look at small populations, 9 NY Yankees staffers tested positive after getting the J&J. Does Jin Dong-yan have a comment on that?
This is not from him, but instead we have these articles
The other just annoying thing. This is a global pandemic. It is sad to see that the people in the media cannot put aside their biases for one moment to come together to fight a common enemy. If the science is sound, we should not worry whether it is Sinopharm/Sinovac/Sputnik/Pfizer/Moderna/J&J whatever. Instead, they try to create a counternarrative and wonder why millions of people believe in fake news like QAnon, or are Anti-vaxxers.
Island nations not surprisingly are pro-West. They're dependent on international tourists and they'd rather have beautiful white people on their beaches than unruly Chinese. What Beijing seems not to understand is countries take advantage of their open need to be respected. How about not doing business with countries with populations that don't like Chinese. Is it that hard to figure out? They ultimately want money and they won't feel the loss of money if Beijing thinks it's being civilized and will be rewarded by still engaging with these countries. This way if they want money from Chinese, they better start learning some discipline. Beijing's way, other's don't learn a thing because they're getting money from China. And Beijing shouldn't have to proclaim publicly like the need Chinese have to announce everything. That only gives them sympathy. Just boycott them and say nothing and they'll be wondering why? Ever deal with an unruly child? The more you give attention to bad behavior, the more they do it. But if you ignore the child, they eventually will stop doing it.
Beijing wants to be respected and that's different from being liked or feared. The Chinese do not want to liked.
They/we rather be feared.
That's China.
That from the old days, which never really went away.
On a personal level, sure! It is great to have friends! The more, the merrier.
On a national level - China never operated any other way.
Yes. IMO the Australia situation was embarrassing for China. Did it really have to create so so much fuss about Australia when it could just quickly and quietly sanction them and get over it?Island nations not surprisingly are pro-West. Mr Morrison said the two countries were still dealing with each other.
“The relationship still exists, look at trade alone – there have never been bigger volumes. That’s a bit of a proof point. When all’s said and done, there’s still great value in the relationship,” he said.
Asked whether Beijing’s economic coercion resembled the traditional Chinese lion dance, more dance than bite, the Prime Minister replied: “I don’t think that’s an unfair analysis
^^ Thats what happens when you dont plan properly before barking about dealing economic damage by sanctions. You get laughed out of the room from all sidesWhile individual Australian firms have suffered from China’s sanctions, at the national level “China’s trade sanctions on Australia’s export numbers has been completely swamped by the booming iron ore trade – which China hasn’t been game enough to touch,” said Lowy Institute economist Roland Rajah.

Instead what China did, was to talk big, say about how much Australia depends on China, how poor Australia will become etc.. Look now whats happening, Australia is swimming in Chinese cash due to the China being "addicted" to iron ore.
I mean, before talking **** about how strong you are, and how you are going to damage them, how about you do your homework to check that you got all your bases covered. Instead they were caught with their pants down with being "forced" to enrich Australia by buying overpriced iron ore. And the next big iron ore mines will be opened at minimum 5 years later in Africa.
And who knows, it is Africa, maybe the US will pull some shenanigans and destabilize the region and all this effort goes to 0
Embarrassing.
Even that joke Morrison is mocking China
