Covaxin by Bharat Biotech. The only known Covid-19 vaccine with the remote risk of actually giving you Covid-19 itself. Imagine the possibility of creating a new epidemic after a vaccination drive. And India has ambitions to become the vaccine hero of the world.

If this was a Chinese vaccine. I could imagine the outrage and accusations of 'biowarfare'.

I have no problem with the facts. If you want Pfizer is the world class vaccine in efficacy, that is what the science is showing. A lot of us in this forum have already been inoculated with it. However an article in "Politico" is not about science no matter how much they want people to believe it.

However, the really worst part of this article is more the fact that it is some neo-colonialist west European white-supremacist BS. Basically calling all countries stupid for buying Chinese vaccines instead of waiting for White Jesus USA/Western Europe to come save them. This is literally the narrative as they criticize Chinese companies for selling instead of giving the vaccines away for free. Western countries are not even willing to SELL let alone give! Chile is getting vaccines from China, what did they get for free from USA? Augusto Pinochet? All those scholarships to go to the School of the Americas?

Chile - still struggling with 1000's of cases per day, using Sinovac. Health officials note that preventing serious cases is one of their more important metrics than strict caseload.
A week after that article was posted, Sinopharm was approved by WHO (I don't think that was a coincidence, I think they were trying to get ahead of the story)
Sinovac is still waiting.

Sinovac's management goes straight into addressing the concern directly and replies with facts.

There is just no comparison between Bharat Biotech and Sinovac. One is led by a Jai Hind, the other by normal professionals.
Why would you trust Bharat Biotech's Covaxin with your own life after hearing what its chairman and founder had just said when concerns were raised? I'll be staying the hell away from Bharat Biotech's Covaxin.

The DCGI, for instance, claimed that Covaxin was “110%" safe, even before trials to establish safety had concluded.

Imagine Chinese health authorities said something like that about its vaccines. Western media would have a field day reporting it for days.

Seriously, one has to wonder how reliable the scientific data can be when it can arrive at a value of 110%.

Yeah. Republicans in Congress are mobilizing on firing Fauci. I disagree with a lot of what Fauci said in those Trump's daily briefings on Covid, e.g. about masks. But he is a scientist. And he was the most outspoken professional during those difficult days, way better than that lady who loves scarfs. Here we are again, one party seeking revenge.
