If am not mistaken this surprisingly well written and well balanced article written by a known right wing Rupert Murdoch owned rag a.k.a. Wall Street Journal has been posted here. Well, this piece of information has always been there right from the beginning when the trial results were announced. It's just that the vast majority of the western media preferred to highlight the 50% efficacy rate.
Nothing surprising though.
The article has been changed. Now it says WHO has approved Sinopharm for emergency use. Why now after months of blocking the approval? I think Europe must be desperate.
@Bellum_Romanum me too, can't deny the truth anymore cause the future of humanity is on the line. Bro if you noticed with the Indian 2nd wave of covid the media coverage and its narrative had been shifting, the picture it provide is so eerie and apocalyptic. Need to give people hope and the Chinese vaccine availability is one way of providing a solution.
Basically, India blocked exports. EU, the US, and Japan are hoarding all the Pfizer, Moderna, J&J and AstraZeneca vaccines. But for the rest of the world, they are getting nothing. Countries in Africa, Middle East, Eastern European, Latin America, and Asia are desperate. If WHO doesn't approve Chinese vaccines, a lot of heat and resentment and anger would be directed at the US and EU.
Clearly, NYT could write a good article based upon facts and statistics. Just look at the breakdown listed here.
It remains to be seen whether the W.H.O. approval will change Beijing’s approach to doling out vaccines. China has given only 10 million doses to Covax, though it has independently donated 16.5 million doses and sold 691 million doses to 84 countries, according to Bridge Consulting. Many of the donations were made to developing nations in Africa and Asia.
Mark my words sooner or later it’ll make it’s way to China. Better start clamping down on the border towns and mass vaccinating the population.
Are there many Chinese expat working in Vietnam? Hard to tell as China must have been outsourcing to Vietnam more?

Too bad, the Vietnamese, especially its netizens, are not so friendly to China. Some even says "rather die than taking Chinese vaccines". So far as I know, the Vietnamese government rejected Chinese vaccines from the beginning and hanging around looking for Western vaccines that they finally found Astra Zeneca. Only a small amount has been imported. On the same news, it said the number of inoculation was around 170K as of today. Just for a comparison, Cambodia has inoculated its citizens up to 1.6m.
