In multiple analyses, the researchers found that the vaccine was 87 to 89.5 percent effective at preventing infection with B.1.1.7 among people who were at least two weeks past their second shot. It was 72.1 to 75 percent effective at preventing infection with B.1.351 among those who had reached the two-week point.

It is a belated but important acquiescence on the part of the Biden Administration. Well-done. It is the first time that I've actually felt them living up to the "America is Back" promise. Rest of the stuff they've been pushing have been Trump 2.0.
I don't question the intention. It is truly noble. As noble as Chinese vaccine aid to other countries.

However, I don't think any developing country(including India) will be able to eat the fruits that US is putting on free sale. The cost of vaccines are one issue. The cost of manufacturing them is another. The technology used (mRNA) is quite intense (use of protein precursors which few can manufacture).

By the time anyone sets up, does trial runs, works out the kinks... It'll be 2022

I think the primary issue with mRNA vaccines in third world countries is stringent transport and storage requirements. Not sure subsaharan Africa or South Asia have the capability for proper handling.
