COMAC C929 Widebody Airliner

I mean, designing any new airliner is difficult and time consuming. You can always design a new airliner, but this thing needs to be 10% better in unit cost than 787-900. That's the expectation for all new aircraft. C919 is a special case, but the airlines will hold COMAC to a higher standard with C929.

Certification is typically considered the most difficult part. It was long and hard for C919. It will again be the case here.
I mean for a prototype C929 that they can do real world flight testing on? I dont mean for a product they can put into the market. I mean something for the highly trained test pilots.

Wide body composite passenger plane fuselage is big challenge for any aviation industry

after that large scale manufacturing with mass production using automation is the second hurdle

a 2 aisle 3-3-3 configuration for wide body aircraft which is top tier in fatigue resistance over a long period of time will be a long term hurdle

Air China placed its first order and we could see C929 in 3-4 years time

certainly C909 and C919 has laid the ground for C929

the wait time and cost of Western aircraft could help C929

and imagine how many aircraft Russia needs

How? The C929 has not even been built yet!

Cute orca did say that C929-700's application for certificate has been sent in and is currently being processed, at least that's my interpretation of this post. Also speaking of this what is a C929-700, I do not believe I have heard about this model before.

Edit: It seems that C929-700 is the stretched body version of C929

I think the subtle message here is the application for certification of the engine for C929 has been accepted for verification , an (partial) airframe of C929 was supposed to be delivered in 2027 as per press release from COMAC's contractor.
