Seriously. I think Airbus will call of their bluff since they know COMAC is in no way near ready or competitive enough to start exporting planes. They have no capacity to do that. Need at least a decade before they can start thinking of exports and challenging Airbus and Beoing. COMAC hasn't even met 1/10 of Chinese orders yet much less thinking of exports.



I think C-Series is mainly for domestic market although it is being exported

I doubt C-Series will ever challenge Boeing or Airbus but if both aviation giants lose even 10% of the Chinese aviation market that's a big threat and loss to them

Boeing and Airbus is probably not worried about the international open market competition

the competition is from with inside China, the Chinese market needs 1000s of aircraft in next 25 years and probably it accounts for most of Boeing and Airbus orders anyway

so C-Series will take orders away from these two but inside the Chinese market so less money going out of the country for China and more money for R&D for future development and less sales for Boeing and Airbus but from within China

outside China many nations don't buy based on aircraft but the political situation too just like military exports are based on political alliances

This ia an old news update, repost for benefits of new members and others who are not following COMAC news. Looks like the instability of foreign supply chains is affecting production rate of C919. Airbus and Boeing are also facing the same problem.

根据中国商飞公司在今年三月份供应商大会上公布的计划,C919计划2024年交付30架,2025年交付54架,2026年交付84架,2027年交付110架,2028年交付126架;国产大飞机C919将真正的进入大规模量产、批量化交付和规模化商业运营的新阶段。
According to the plan announced by COMAC at the supplier conference in March this year (2024), the C919 plans to deliver 30 aircraft in 2024, 54 aircraft in 2025, 84 aircraft in 2026, 110 aircraft in 2027, and 126 aircraft in 2028; The domestic large aircraft C919 will truly enter a new stage of mass production, mass delivery and large-scale commercial operation.


中国商飞为了应对即将到来的大规模量产和交付挑战,已经做好了准备。今年8月,C919大型客机第二总装厂选址确定为上海浦东临港片区,总建筑面积约33万平方米,项目总投资达119.5亿元。建成后,总装厂将满足C919客机的批量化生产需求,预计到2027年生产线满负荷运转时,产能将达到150架以上。
COMAC is well prepared for the upcoming challenges of mass production and delivery. In August this year, the site of the second assembly plant of C919 large passenger aircraft was determined to be the Lingang area of Pudong, Shanghai, with a total construction area of about 330,000 square meters and a total investment of 11.95 billion yuan. After completion, the final assembly plant will meet the mass production needs of C919 passenger aircraft, and it is expected that by 2027, the production capacity will reach more than 150 aircraft when the production line is running at full capacity.

However, the instability of the aviation supply chain market in the past two years has left a potential "minefield" for the production and manufacturing of C919, Boeing and Airbus are also facing the dilemma of delayed delivery of aircraft because of the progress of the supply chain, and some core components and subsystems of C919 are also produced and supplied by foreign manufacturers, so Guo Jia pointed out that as of now, 919 has not entered mass production, and usually produces about 30 aircraft per year as the basis for mass production. Although the 919 is the first generation of the aircraft, it has been commercially available, but it also needs to be operated commercially to confirm reliability. this question doesn't make sense and will never happen ..

okay lets suppose GE/Safran agrees to build assembly line in mainland. you really think ?? US will allow GE to build LEAP-1 engines in mainland. absolutely zero chance

one more thing, people don't take CJ-1000A engine serious. a very advance machine and this engine is at par with LEAP-1 series in general specifications.. final certification process has begun.

I see increased skills and knowledge as a substantial benefit to the local engine industry similiar to what China did in improving the AL-31 while overhauling that engine for the J-11 and SU-30MKK.

China has long passed that stage. when China needed foreign machines to learn and adapt similar process in their own products.

Vietnam may certify COMAC. If COMAC is able to operate commercially in Vietnam, it will be a foothold for COMAC to enter the greatly expanding ASEAN market.
Cambodia and Laos should be relatively easy countries to get certifications from, but you need to fly through Vietnam to access them. Would Thailand or Singapore ever give their certifications though?
