COMAC C919

I think so. Probably less ambitious than assembly lines but still significant with supply chains talk. China and Embraer parted ways on a JV just a while ago but China gave certifications to the E2s which might be quid pro quo:

why complicated things..

right now COMAC main focus is domestic market and then Southeast Asian market is their top priority.

guys, there is no reason comparing yourself to Embraer.

COMAC needs to get its act together and really ramp up production in 2025.

Doesn't it sense to compare at least a little with Embraer as the current third largest civilian aviation maker when looking at COMAC production?

Beside the fact that, well, it is a fun thing to do :)

FT article. Fails to mention CJ1000A and other import substitution efforts. European Certification and production rates will be an issue in obtaining market share:

China has the world's largest airliner market. Between that and Global South countries they can do fairly well. Indonesia, Brazil, Vietnam, Malaysia, will also be large markets.

this reminds me of the Air travel in China which is a very fun business

I flew from Beijing, Shanghai and HK many times

and being a British Asian I got lots of attention and treatment was extra privileged, everyone tried their best to speak English and I was embarrassed not to speak a word of Chinese either Mandarin or Cantonese

massive Chinese airports and huge walkways with long elevators arriving backing in Edinburgh seemed like I had landed in a multi story car park !

when I was there the question raised was, China has made huge advancements in aviation infrastructure and logistics but why not civilian airlines

well I guess next few years should see C909, C919, C929 and C939 , really had hoped that China was 10 years ahead in this field but it is what it is

those big Chinese airports deserve a lot more Made in China aircraft

Air Asia, World's leading buget airlines is looking to acquire 100 new planes. The Airlines is talking to Airbus, COMAC and Embraer before making final decision. Note that Boeing is not mentioned.

Currently Air Asia (not including suubsidiaties like Air Asia X) is operating exclusively Airbus A320 and A321.

So that means they will continue to buy A320 and c919 is used for bargaining with airbus.

Seriously. I think Airbus will call of their bluff since they know COMAC is in no way near ready or competitive enough to start exporting planes. They have no capacity to do that. Need at least a decade before they can start thinking of exports and challenging Airbus and Beoing. COMAC hasn't even met 1/10 of Chinese orders yet much less thinking of exports.
