Productivity of C919 is a big challenge.

COMAC need at least 10 years to intergrade the supply chains and speed up the production.

Also there is a risk of supply sanction from the US.

China definitely needs a sanction-proof backup for the LEAP engine in the C919. The CJ-1000 still looks quite far away and even then it uses too many western suppliers like GKN, MTU, Avio. Best bet is forcing Russia to transfer technology for the PD-14 in exchange for some royalty payments
The threat of using the PD-14 should be enough to ensure western engine deliveries for now. But maybe Russia is desperate enough to sell its engine technology for some economic aid from China

totally wrong. it was the early planning in 2010's to use western components. but plan has changed due to breakthrough in domestic industry from 2015 onward.

CJ-1000A all major components are domestically produced. coz of sensitivity i can't post the name of suppliers.

you should check 'Engine development thread' before posting. China don't need any type of engine technology from Russia. CJ-1000A is better engine than PD-14.

this year CJ-1000A is in the air for final testing. it will take 2 to 3 years before certification for small scale production. most probably in 2025-26.

Breaking -

COMAC has filed an airworthiness application with the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) for the C919 aircraft, preparing for potential export orders, and has been accepted by EASA.

As the main review body of the C919 aircraft, the Civil Aviation Shanghai Certification Center has also revealed that EASA has also participated in multiple certification reviews of the C919 aircraft before. Obtaining China's type certificate first is also one of the steps for the C919 aircraft to obtain the EASA airworthiness certificate and export it.

Maybe someone could help me please. The LEAP 1C engine for C919 should be in the same generation and same thrust class as LEAP 1A and 1B, but why is it about 33% - 40% heavier than LEAP 1A,B?

"The LEAP-1C is the only model for which CFM provides a totally integrated propulsion system that includes the engine, nacelle, and thrust reverser" This is also why it is 1.2 meter longer than 1A.
