My daughter got accecpted at UC Berkley!!!! Yeah...A full boat(100%) Scholastic scholarship to Berkely.
I thought she would go to UCSD or UC Davis. But Berkely..Wow! ..Amazing!
She called me last night. She lives in San Diego. She was off the hook excited...And so was Big Daddy Popeye! :nana:

I generally understad 'gollynese" but I'm lost on this one..
Anyway..I assume your education is free through college in Finland. That's great!..not so in the US. Even the "free state universities" are not free any longer. Such as in California. If a kid went to any state college on California ..which use to be free. His/her tuition alone would be $2,500 USD for one year. Books, programs, lodging etc is an added cost.
$100,000 is a drop in the bucket for an education at Berkely. Say for instance she was a student from outside the staete of Califoornia. Her tuition alone would be $26,000 a year plus expenses. The dorm would still be $13,000 a year....That's a total of $156,000 for four years. Not including any extras...like food!

I think your daughter will enjoy UCB more than UC Davis. Berkeley is a great "college town" for college kids. Davis is... in the middle of moo-moo land. I have a cousin attending there atm.
If anyone is interested in applying to UC Irvine, I live about 10 min away and can provide info on the area.

You also live in the land of inexpensive real estate... a 50+ year old single family home in Berkeley will cost at least $800,000+ USD. ^_^;;

.True story>> In 1975 I was stationed on the USS Hancock CVA-19 which was homported in Alameda CA. About 30 miles from Berkely..not sure. Once while cruising around Berkley looking for stray girls
we saw two cops sitting in an alley in their patrol car smokin' weed..No kidding..That was 32 years ago...
