It's beaten Dota 2 and is about to exceed Lost Ark to reach 4th spot.

Holy sh*t Black Myth Wukong is insanely amazing! The quality and details IMO surpasses that of some AAA western devs which is impressive for a young Chinese studio! I can't wait to see what the devs deliver in the next 5 years with all that money and experience! Not to mention, the encouragement and investment other Chinese devs would get from this. I think we're looking at the true birth of Chinese AAA Games

I'm on Steam and I'm seeing 1.428 million active players!!

Ok so i've just played a bit of Black Myth Wukong and here's my prelimary first impressions:
It's really good, the art direction, the initial fight really felt action packed in fight against the celestial army. Later, i can see the RPG elements of the game, the beautiful way the bestiary of the enemies are portrayed in enemy descriptions, with the potential to upgrade your armour and weapons. Can definitely see it being a popular one for people over the coming Summer holidays.

on Chinese soft power, I wonder if this is how Europeans felt when they went to China for porcelain, tea and silk.

I think there was some account from some European traders that went to Guangzhou during Qing times and were astounded at the colorful vibrant silk flags and banners fluttering from the walls. The traders' own flags were faded ragged pieces of cloth. Of course the account then tried to portray this as a sign of Chinese wasteful decadence.
