China is better at software than certain coding farms that I shall not name because it has some proprietary software and well made applications, but when it comes to core algorithms it is very far behind. The gulf in software is even deeper than the gulf in semiconductor manufacturing.
Wait seriously? As someone who's only hobbyist in this stuff at the most basic level can we get a quick TLDR? Because this is not only news to me, but also just rather fascinating to learn about the subject in general.

Also, this is despite the fact that Chinese (and other Asian nationalities) programmers, employees, etc. are heavily recruited and comprising of American tech companies from FAANG to hardware like Intel, Nvidia, or OS like Windows?

We all know it ain't the "dAY in DA LyfE 0f a TWitteR/F@ceb00K/GoOGLe" basic white girl HR employees who are the ones actually doing the important work over there.

I'm curious what "core algorithms" you have in mind here. As far as I know, almost every application has an open-source equivalent, so I don't see how or why China would be behind on algorithms.

In my view, the problem with Chinese software is the work culture. Software is one of those industries where it's very easy for talented workers to jump ship. Only the mediocre workers are willing to grind long hours at a company with a bad work culture. This means that the more you push 996, the less talented engineers you will have, and the more you are stuck with mediocre people who are unwilling to take initiatives and come up with new ideas.

Algorithm, architecture, and grunt level coding are very different things. There is a reason why people who develop algorithms and architectures are paid a lot more money. For one thing a high school graduate can learn to code, but to develop efficient algorithms require very advanced mathematics.

The advanced algorithms are buried in open source libraries that are themselves buried in dependencies you didn't know you had.

Another round of permit licenses granted to game makers, with Netease and Tencent not among them. But the good news is that Zenless Zone Zero and Wuthering Waves are among them. This means they have one year to release the game or lose the privilege. The way ZZZ looks it's being polished for the Sony PS5 as Sony deepens it's relationship with Hoyoverse, even though ZZZ has yet to be formally announced for the PS5. The second beta test for ZZZ has already been announced.

Apparently some commenters lose their panties when Belobog is mentioned in the trailer, suggesting a connection to the Belobog in Honkai Star Rail. Belobog is the name of the Slavic God of Light, and Chernbog is the opposite, the Slavic God of Darkness. So Belobog Industries in the ZZZ trailer isn't much different in idea over calling something like Mars or Jupiter Industries. Hoyoverse might have intentionally slipped the Belobog name just to get people hyped up over oblique connections within the Hoyoverse metaverse.
