Tom Clancy would be spinning in his grave if he knew his IP would fall under Communist Chinese hands. I can't wait for a reverse splinter cell infiltrating America instead of some Russian super base.

Besides the Tom Clancy series, I'm more interested in what Tencent will do with Assassin's Creed and Far Cry.
Far cry 7riad based in Hong kong or Taiwan antagonist is some uber crazy Triad boss(Like Vaas in Far cry 3), you have to infiltrate his organisation...

Triad boss is crazy like this mfer...

Surprised Tencent is even considering this. I don't think Ubisoft has any value from their developers or IPs.
Kind of agree, I think it's better to just build up new studios. Instead of taking over ubisoft, given it's really just assassin creed and farcry in 2020s and not every entry in those series are hits.

Maybe the tech but tencent also has an majority share in unreal engine.

Tom Clancy IP may have potential. Rainbow Six, The Division, Ghost Recon, and The Splinter. There is also Watch Dogs. However, it isn’t like Tencent is buying the entire company as they are going to be joint owners with the Guillemot Family who are the original founders of Ubisoft. The current CEO of Ubisoft is Yves Guillemot. They may have cut a deal with Tencent to buy Ubisoft in an attempt to rescue their family fortune and business.

I hope at minimum they give Tencent majority shares.

Probably not majority. Could be equal or slightly less since it will most likely trigger the French/Americans politicians paranoia. The last time Tencent bought shares. They also bought 49.9% of Guillemot Holding Company under a likely partnership deal.

Ubisoft is overall cooked, I sadly think.

The whole structure is brain rotted and unless Tencent mass lays off and reshores to competent and passionate Chinese devs or at least more work oriented western ones, Ubisoft will not be able to make anything but shit.

Remember these are the same guys who genuinely thought AC: shadows was a good idea. They are anti-asian and embracers of pro-American propaganda to the bone.

Ironic they talk about representation and yet they're talking about only blacks, white women, and non-binaries all which are minorities within their own to which all of them as a whole together are a minority in the world. Asians make the majority of the gaming world and yet I don't see any accurate representation across the board of Asians especially Asian men. Non-binaries...? Why? Because they play computer games too? Feeling left out...?

Here's another thing about Ubisoft. I saw a Japanese gamer complain that Ubisoft is advertising for "Japanese translators" for Assassins Creed Shadows in China. He asks why would they do that adding insult to injury and then types a letter to Ubisoft on his video offering his services. Why does Black Myth Wukong have an English version just like there's probably a Japanese version for Assassins Creed Shadows already? That's probably why. Chinese being a large chunk of international gamers, Ubisoft is probably looking to make as much money as possible since Assassins Creed Shadows is getting bad PR in the West and Japan.
