Chinese Video/Computer Games

When I started this thread back in 2012, it wasn't like there were a whole bunch Chinese games out there to discuss so this thread wasn't certainly about Chinese computer games by themselves. And anyone think I would intend limiting it to such a narrow topic...? And now there are outsiders, including Sweet Baby Inc that want to control how Chinese make their games who are just getting their footing... Chinese game makers should be paying attention and don't be naive. I'm sure Game Science is celebrating their success in the West. And we know some Chinese value that more than the higher popularity with Chinese... The makers of Genshin Impact walked into the mess they put themselves into because they didn't know how to navigate the turbulent politics of the West. They don't know how to answer these people beyond "No comment!" Those game journalists attacking Black Myth Wukong interpreted that as guilt. Game Science was lucky that straight white males were more anti-DEI than anti-Chinese this time because it could've easily went the other way and there would be nothing to talk about.

You know the activities of active online players on steam has shown me one thing. Compare the numbers of Wukong and Space marine 2 both have mass appeal in the western sphere. But Wukong had active online players in the 2 million range while space marine 2 sat at around 200~300k or so. I can conclude to reach the top of steam rankings one needs to focus on the Chinese gaming market and set western gaming market as a nice to have. If chinese game studios do that they can isolate themselves from western political culture war stuff.

In this case, it appears that someone – probably fully aware of how closely this page was being watched – figured out a way to quickly dump tens of thousands of votes against Black Myth: Wukong into the system, dropping it back down into the high 60s in a matter of hours. If trolling the Black Myth: Wukong fanbase during a moment of triumph was the goal here, it was extremely effective. We’ve seen a lot of anger and accusations of altering the results leveled at us, which is disappointing because again, this was all supposed to be for fun.
To be explicitly clear, no one at IGN tampered with the results of this Face-Off in any wayduring this period. We’ve spent the past few days investigating what happened, and how we can keep Face-Offs making people happy instead of mad going forward. Here’s what the voting activity looked like on September 21 through 24, by the hour, from the top regions where people were participating.

Taiwan is so effing rich that they can drop money on this lmfao.

not that this is going to change the final future of Taiwan if this is true but I fail to see how this is going to benefit IGN in the future through what ever games they promote, sure the rating might be high but if the game sucks and it will, the loses of money earners may be in the hundreds of millions. BMW is a success and no amount of slander is going to change this but IGN better watch out, its determination to insert politics into video games is going to ruin them sooner or later

If there is direct relevance to Chinese video games, including if it is on culture war topics, then I see no reason why it can't be posted here.

But this forum should not play host to kotakuinaction or gamergate frustrations. That can be done elsewhere.

The Western Internet does not have a monopoly on crazy.

Mihoyo sues a content creator in Bilibili who writes parody songs about Mihoyo and calls their waifus pr_st_t_t_s.

Please, Log in or Register to view URLs content!
In this guy's "parody" song quote:
"Mihoyo collusion with the government and media"
They are right to sue, this man is a fifth column rat bastard. Imagine writing in USA a song criticizing hollywood collusion with AIPAC, government and military. You'd be interrogated and canceled for being a traitor to America.

What's wrong with China's own people "colluding" with the government that represents them? Only a traitor cockroach would have an issue with it.

Pay the fuck up retard. Should be happy it's a small sum. I don't care or know if Mihoyo characters are prostitutes, but what I do know is that the songwriter is a prostitute for the 1.6 billion. A prostitute selling her pussy and ass is much higher and more respectable than a prostitute selling his own countrymen.
