Slowly but surely, onward to chapter2 in BM:WK.
24 hours played so far. Taking my time :p

24 hours to finish chapter 1??
I suppose nothing wrong with taking time to enjoy the scenery.

Now that I've had some time with Black Myth: Wukong, I really like the game. It's not perfect but a pretty damn well made game.

There can still be some improvements made to the core combat though. I'm not talking about variety but the feel. Some basic combos have too many animations per player input. Big hits aren't satisfying due to lack of hitlag. When I charge up a heavy and land it, have the animation pause for a frame or two to really sell the impact.

Sometimes, I feel like I'm fighting the camera more than the bosses. Especially when bosses are tall or use vertical movements/space. Makes reacting to some moves difficult when camera is stuck in the guy's asscrack. Solution is to have the camera pull back for large bosses or windups. When that happens, I just spam Cloud Step to avoid. Cloud Step is OP, no explanation is needed.

Overall 87/100

In terms of the combat, to be honest I don't notice anything too different from other similar action RPGs like Fromsoft ones.
The light attacks having their own combo chain is not too different from other games of the type, and landed heavy attacks feel pretty similarly satisfying to Souls, Elden Ring, or Sekiro or Bloodborne (or even more so, if it's a fully charged heavy).

As for the camera against more mobile or flying bosses, lol that's part and parcel of this genre. I'd say this game is a bit better than even some more mature developers like what From has done -- there isn't anything as frustrating as fighting midir or phase 1 of nameless king in Dark Souls 3, or one of the Ancient Dragons like Sennesax in Elden Ring. Getting caught in a corner by Genichiro or Owl has similar if not worse camera jank as well.
In a way, learning the camera and positioning in the arena is as important to part of the combat flow as the combat, dodge and healing as anything.

Possibly cause I want to make sure not to miss anything, and possibly cause I grinded to level thirty something in the meantime.
The snake guy with two health bars made me retry a lot of times. A lot more than the bosses after him.
Still using mouse + keyboard so far.

Btw this person managed to defeat tiger vanguard with a mouth controller:

Don't sleep on upgrading your Armor, it helped me get past certain boss in chapter 2.
