A drone operator of an certain synthetic brigade of the Southern Theater Command. The UAV appears to be Blowfish A2, albeit with some minor differences in the landing gear.

This question may belong in the UAV thread but the images brings this to mind. Does the PLA intend to have an EW (perhaps dedicated) type UAV in the near future, or do they already possess one that'll be able to conduct the concept as described?

Yes. If I recall correctly, the FH-95 UAV shown at Zhuhai last year was an EW variant. I'm dead certain China is working on more EW drones for different scenarios. It's inconceivable otherwise.

Is this already in operational service? because the Mengshi launching vehicle doesn't have any markings like a serial number or a red star on the side of the vehicle.

Good catch. I don’t know. It might be an experimental/trial setup.

I don't think having markings or not is related to being in service. Here are some photos from the Sino-Russo joint exercise in 2021.

No marking or serial number, nor PLA insignia.

No serial numbers, and tiny insignia.

Considering the trend of low observatory marking, I imagine they would later change the insignia to grey or remove it all together. After all what is the point of having an insignia in the battle field. I even question the necessity of having any serial numbers painted. In the smoke of the battle field and bushes and terrain, one can hardly see the chassis let alone the marking. An electrical map would show the position of every vehicle.

these drone carriers are long-overdue. they are so useful as an organic battlefield surveillance and recon unit. and they don't even have to be as big as this one. after the war in ukraine I am sure these drones will soon become standard equipment in any battalion sized unit.

There's no lack of drones for recon in a Combined Arm Brigade.
From various reports, there are at least four different types of drones in a recon batallion's inventory.

72JTJ-85U armoured recce catapult launched uav.jpg
81JTJ-189U hand thrown uav.jpg
71JTJ-178U recce battalion portable quadcoter.jpg

This drone was chosen most likely for it's performance in tough weather like the weather you get at high altitude plateau where this Regiment is deployed in.
