Chinese Trainer Aircraft (JL-8, JL-9, JL-10 (L-15), etc.)

Not holding my breath till that final (?) evolution of the Fishbed family tree made a carrier trap landing.

JL-10...not very sure what to make of it, becasue JL-9 and JL-10 supposedly two competing designs, not complimenting each other...
They tried tailhooks on the JL-9 and the airframe couldn't take the stress, therefore it's reasonable JL-10 engineers must ensure the same thing doesn't happen with JL-15. Is there any rumors on that?

I heard that L-9 is meant to be a stopgap? It is unfit for aircraft carriers.

Just out of curiosity:
What is the FTC-2000G selling for? Also what is an educated guess as to the cost of a single seat FTC-2000G with an AESA radar as in the J-15?
Thanks,

I’ll throw in my thoughts. I was thinking the other day (never a good thing after several glasses of wine) of how many air forces need a small, economical, robust and easy to maintain point defense fighter. I’m not talking about a multi-roll like the JF-17, but a simple point defense fighter to replace the many F-5E and MiG-21/J-7 aircraft out there.

My though was a modified Hongdu L-15 in a single seat configuration (similar nose configuration as the Hawk 200)? This aircraft would be in the same class as an (updated) F-5E and would serve well as a point defense fighter and can patrol for airspace violations and provide valuable flight hours for pilots.

I really love this little beauty and I always thought this kind of advances fighters would be an excellent alternative for constricted budget air forces.
Uruguayan air force still uses Cessna's A-37B light attack planes as primary "fighter".
Half a dozen of modified single seater L-15 with additional avionics or fuel in the place of the student's seat would be a perfect option.

There is a market for cheap point defense aircraft for 3rd world nations.
