Re: JL-15 and other trainers

Engine change, nose design change, even the ground clearance at the front wheel seems to have been changed. The new prototype seems to have greater ground clearance compared to the older design.

Just one observation of note on the L-15 p.06 ... it's the first one with the PLAAF-star & bar symbol !

So the PLAAF is (still ?) involved in that project ?

Sorry to interrupt
But haven' t there been any plans or rumours yet about a singleseat JL-15?
Could become an effective and modern poorman's fighter!
Change nose section to accommodate just a single pilot, small pd radar in front; additional avionics or anything else desirable behind pilotseat et voilà!
Not that simpple I know but it can be done and you would be offering a new and up-to-date weaponsplatform!

The Yak-152K/L-7 is at the Zhuhai air show, now we can see all the help Hongdu needed from Russia to build a turboprop aircraft in action ;)

Hmm is it just me or does the picture on HT's page seem to show the L-7 as unnaturally tall and lacking a third wheel? Or is it that they just haven't installed it yet?

they were still putting it together when these photos were taken. It still has not made its first flight yet, nor has it done the high speed taxi runs.

It looks like there is something that looks like a wheel below the green cover. though unlikely as that is where the engine should be.

That is a wheel. There should be enough space to stow the wheel inside the airframe during flight, engine or not.

Er... you only see two wheels? I see three though. The front wheel is behind the second blue thing. The plane look unusually tall to me too, but I thing without that high, the propeller would touch the ground.
