Even if not directly relevant in this topic, the new Diamond DART-750 military trainer aircraft made its maiden flight.

So, could this be an option for future PLA use?

Main issue surely is to find a substitute for the 750shp PT6A-25C turboprop engine from Pratt & Whitney Canada.
Is there something comparable available or under development?

@VESSEL ??

This could be a replacement for the CJ-6 trainer aircraft. I think China had planned to buy a variant of this aircraft with Ukrainian Al-450S engine i.e. DART-450 aka CETC TA-20.
But given the current situation in Ukraine I do not know what will happen with this project.

Russia also had a similar proposal for a trainer aircraft called UTS-800.

These are licensed designs of the Diamond. This was possible because Austria is a neutral country and not part of NATO.
Diamond right now is also owned by a Chinese company.

This is just the DART-450 with Ukrainian Al-450S engine which had the engine replaced with Pratt & Whitney engine for clients in the West or otherwise who wish to have that kind of engine.

I think it is possible since Diamond now is simply a Chinese company ... however it is indeed interesting, if and which engine it then can use.

However for the Dart-750 a totally different engine would be required

They are doing sleek aircrafts at Diamond. That one look like a greyhound.

Russia is developing the VK-800 engine for the UTS-800 and LMS-901 aircraft at Ural Civil Aviation Plant. This is an 800 hp engine.
If that gets developed it is an engine which can possibly be used.

Russia is also developing a VK-650 engine which could be used on a DART-450 derivative.

I do not aware about recent Chinese programs in this engine class. But there must be something since from what I know China is interested in replacing the CJ-6.

Theoretically they can convert an helicopter engine into a turboshaft. For example the 848 hp WZ-8 engine used in the Z-9. This is something that exists called WJ-9. It is the engine used in the Y-12C aircraft.
