I must admit, I have that strange feeling that most of these rumours came from the same source so maybe @huitong can explain a bit more if this is true and how reliable the or these sources are.

Anyway, my feeling tells me that these rumours concerning the J-10D, JL-10J and J-11D have all a similar smell.

No one has seen the mythical afterburning Al-222 engine anywhere that I am aware of.
It is supposed to exist or be manufacturable though.

The one named ''l15b'' on the picture look like he has engine with variable outlet and not a fixed one like on trainers jl-10. These are AL-222 with afterburners or not ?

AFAIK the regular Al-222 has a variable outlet just like any other jet engine. The afterburning version is supposed to have a TVC nozzle. I don't think that is a TVC nozzle. I might be wrong though.

The one on the jl-10 trainer are no variable on the outside, they are fixed but have a conical form to look nice.img_26-1_47.jpg
