I have belief that pre-Sinic people at the Yangtze were cultivating rice in paddy form, and later spread that form to other regions, such as Southern China, Vietnam, northern Philippines, Taiwan, Japan and Korea.

I've never been a big fan of 90s and 00s Chinese pop. I like songs with poetic lyrics and traditional Chinese melodies, but apart from a few exceptions (Phoenix Legend!), those were few and far between.
To my pleasant surprise, we are now seeing a lot more Chinese songs that have those two qualities. 芒种 is definitely one of my new favorites. Here are a few more that I really like:
