I think we should keep an open mind. Since beginning of Chinese history, foreigners have always come to China to learn about its culture, this time is no different. Besides, how is China going to lead the whole world if it maintains an overly suspicious attitude?

You want to influence others, not others influence you. You know all the crazyness of the early 2000s- till Xi took power to clamp down. I attribute that partly from being to liberalized and being influence from the west. Westerners are near 98% pushing their values into others and see their values as the absolute best. Are the Chinese boba libs at only 2%?

Influence is mutual, but China definitely has the stronger hand on XHS now. First, Chinese population on XHS is bigger. Second, Chinese people set the rules (e.g., content policies, recommendation, technology standards). Third, the foreigners coming to XHS now wants to be civilized by the Chinese, the missionaries preaching liberal propaganda arrived to China and XHS long ago.

Well, I have notice mandarin speakers that were making mandarin content are now making english-first content.... rather than mandarin with english subs...

Oh it is definitely worse than that. In the Soviet Union you have corruption but I doubt even the worst, most despicably corrupt Soviet Official had 1000 times the wealth as the lowliest Soviet worker.

The problem with the U.S. economy is not one of wealth but one of distribution.
its definitely wealth too. wealth in asset valuations isn't wealth, when its that high it is 有价无市. You can never liquidate it all at once without destroying the value.
I think we discussed those rumors in another thread some weeks ago. Kind of like those exclusive economic zone experiments but with the GFW.
XHS is firmly inside the wall. Foreigners are there under 100% Chinese content control and management. THAT is the uniqueness.

It’s true, but billionaires don’t have to liquidate stock to enjoy their wealth. What they do is take loans from banks at minimal interest every time they need a yacht and basically never paying back the money. It is arguably worse.

Due to the state of Western governance and society, the Chinese have nothing to worry about.
Also like people said before this is a platform 100% controlled by Chinese censors.
