How about the views of the other 160 or so countries in the world, especially the 150 or so that have joined BRI?
Doing so would reveal contradictions in their mainstream narrative. Propaganda 101 dictates that they'll mostly pick data points that support that narrative, a few that neither detract nor support, and even fewer that contradict. The latter two types are to create the illusion of objectivity and methodological rigor to successfully trick people.

Gen Z in Taiwan has strong connections to Mainland Chinese culture.
⬛️ The old boomer generation identifies with China.
️ But the Gen Z influenced by Mainland drama, variety shows and music is starting to have that connection too.
⬛️ It is the millennials in Taiwan that is ardent anti-China. Mainly because they grew up in the 1990s and early 2000s, when Taiwan pop culture were much more influential.
⬛️ The decline of Taiwanese pop culture and the rise of Mainland pop culture happened in the 2010s
️ Young Taiwanese are growing up in an environment saturated with mainland influences.
⬛️ If we wait it out, combined with our economic might, we can pressure reunification without war.
⬛️ But if we want to resolve the issue within 15 years then some military pressure is needed

I think the (at least current) government will always default to negotiated settlement, when it comes to large disputes like that.
Only if violent attack against China and her people is started by radical rebels, if they plot terrorism and make designs to steal Chinese land, then the military and internal security forces will be mobilized.
ROC by itself has 0 power left to launch any offensives. They wouldn't even get past the Taiwan coastline. So the only threat is another outside power coming in Putin in Donbass style and claiming they will "protect" the separatists. But that also needs a lot of confidence from that country, that they can withstand what is, even in the best case scenario for them, an attrition war with China where no end will be in sight.
