Chinese shipbuilding industry

Do you honestly believe Koreans( and Japanese) cannot build aircraft carriers? They chose to not build them because they didn't need carriers, not because they cannot build carriers better than what Chinese are building.

Japanese are building 2 larger 22DDH class "destroyers", dont be mis-lead by the name

these are massive 20,000 ton ships much larger than the 2 Hyūga class helicopter destroyers, which have been designed to meet the requirments of the F35 and V22

the first one has already been laid due to enter serivce around ~2015, same time ex-Varyag will be up and running as a fully operational carrier

these are essentially 2 aircraft carriers for JMSDF

Also larger than the British Illustrious class carriers or the ex-Dutch Karel Doorman / ex-Argentinian 25 de Mayo and probably larger than at least half the aircraft carriers ever built.

Wave piercing catamaran ferry.

As I pointed out when I posted the pics on CDF that the new Haixia is actually second hand ship from Canada, so it's really not representative of China's shipbuilding capability. However I'd imagine China should be able to produce such ships in the next few years.

What a weird tower. Even without the scaffolding it looks kinda strange. I wonder what radar is that on the top.

in the early days of Type 051C and Type 052B programmes etc etc China used to import alot of the systems, next they moved to the next batch then Type 052C came, at this point Chinas imports of weapons dropped to almost zero

back in the days S300, SA-17 Grizzlys, air and sea search radars, fire control radars, naval guns etc were all imported, now hardly anything of the sort is being bought

China has made great move forward in the last few years, infact i would say in the last 2 years, they can make ships for export and also for domestic markets with all indigenous Chinese equipment

the sensors and command and control facilitys on the Azmat Class FAC proved this, there has been very positive feedback from Pakistan Navy on this craft in terms of its advanced bridge and quality of the on board facilitys, I am sure this is a translation of experience gather by China from its own domestic programmes

where will China be 5 years from now? well that is anyones guess

In addition, this ship looks quite large. Does anyone knows how big this ship is in terms of lenght, displacement, etc?

Another bunch of sensors under testing. Seems they are preparing the next gen sensor suite for the next gen ships to follow the derivates of 052c, 054a, 071 and varyag
