Interesting. Metalenses for lithography systems.

Design and simulation of an extreme ultraviolet metalens based on the Pancharatnam–Berry phase.

Abstract

Extreme ultraviolet (EUV) radiation plays a key role in the fields of material science, attosecond metrology, and lithography. However, the reflective optical components typically used in EUV systems contribute to their bulky size, weight, and increased costs for fabrication. In this paper, we theoretically investigate transmissive metalens designs capable of focusing the EUV light based on the Pancharatnam–Berry phase. The designed metalens is composed of nanoscale elliptical holes, which can guide and manipulate EUV light due to the higher refractive index of the vacuum holes compared to that of the surrounding material. We designed an EUV metalens with a diameter of 10 µm, which supports a focal length of 24 µm and a numerical aperture of up to 0.2. It can focus 55-nm EUV incident light to a diffraction-limited spot, and the focusing efficiency is calculated to be as high as about 7% over a broad EUV frequency range (50–65 nm). This study reveals the possibility of applying a dielectric metalens in the EUV region without a transmissive optical material.

Planar grating for litho stage is made by a specialized type of lithography machine called interference lithography. And of course Uprecision and ciomp have to design and make their own IL machines to be able to make their planar gratings! Not only the critical sub components but also the specialized machineries used for making those components are being indigenized

HHG is another method to produce coherent euv light. Less powerful HHG EUV has already been commercialized by Huaray and HUST

HHG is very inefficient though. In general, the higher harmonics, the lower the quantum yield. "High yield" conversion efficiency is like... 10E-6 levels, or 10 ppm photon/photon.

This does not surprise me though I'm not an expert in optics. The photon interaction cross section of gaseous medium is very low.

Just changing to a solid medium does not help either. The photon interaction cross section of solids is high. However, in that situation self absorption of the output beam and beam heating will limit the output.

Saida Semiconductor’s Environmental Impact Assessment Announcement for the Annual Production of 300,000 Pieces of Silicon Carbide Epitaxial Project

Recently, the environmental impact assessment information of Saida Semiconductor's silicon carbide epitaxial project controlled by Great Wall Motors (601633) was announced.
The announcement shows that the construction site of the project is in Xushui Economic Development Zone, Baoding City, Hebei Province, with a total investment of approximately 1.47 billion yuan. The project covers an area of 11,979m2 and has a total construction area of 7,887m2. The original factory building and open space (Huaxun factory building) of Great Wall Motors Xushui Company will be leased to form the company's production and R&D factory buildings. The project plans to purchase major production, R&D and ancillary equipment such as epitaxial equipment, testing equipment, cleaning equipment, etc., with an initial production capacity of 15,000 pieces/year, and a planned production capacity of 300,000 pieces/year in 2027.

one of the clips show a lady putting 0.4 mm diameter pins onto circuit board. she would do this work for 6 hours straight. lol

the clip on the bottom just talk about the miniaturization of TR modules + increased power

"In its recent note covering the Chinese semiconductor market, Bernstein analysts initiated coverage on Hygon Information Technology with an Outperform rating.

On Tuesday, the broker released another analysis of the sector, saying it believes the x86 server central processing unit (CPU) makers such as Hygon are “not as far behind” Intel (NASDAQ:INTC) and AMD (NASDAQ:AMD) as some think.

The CPU performance analysis shows that Hygon’s server CPU is about 2-3 years behind Intel’s and 3-4 years behind AMD’s,” analysts said.

“However, since Intel’s '18 gen still takes 25% of the market share in 2023, such a gap won’t stop Hygon from addressing a sizable portion of the Chinese market,” they added.

Since 2018, the Beijing-based chipmaker has launched four generations of x86 server CPU products, each delivering a performance improvement of 30%-50% over its predecessor, Bernstein highlighted.

Between 2017 and 2022, China's demand for x86 server CPUs grew at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 9%, outpacing the global rate of 6%. This surge in demand is largely due to significant policy support for new infrastructure investments in Western China and the development of data centers in key national hubs and clusters.

“Looking ahead, we expect China’s demand to maintain an 8% CAGR over the next 3 years, on par with the world average, driven by high computing demand from AI and the rollout of next-generation CPU platforms,” Bernstein analysts noted.
