Innoscience sues Infineon for patent infringement
On the evening of January 16, Innoscience announced on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange that Innoscience (Suzhou) Technology Co., Ltd. and its wholly-owned subsidiary Innoscience (Suzhou) Semiconductor Co., Ltd. had filed a lawsuit with the Suzhou Intermediate People's Court of Jiangsu Province, China on January 16, 2025, suing Infineon Technologies (China) Co., Ltd. (Defendant 1), Infineon Technologies (Wuxi) Co., Ltd. (Defendant 2) and Suzhou ChipsWork Electronic Technology Co., Ltd. (ChipsWork, Defendant 3).
The lawsuit involves Patent No. 202311774650.7 and Patent No. 202211387983.X, which respectively involve a gallium nitride (GaN) power device and its preparation method, and a nitride-based semiconductor device and its manufacturing method.
According to the announcement of Innoscience, the reason for the lawsuit is that Defendant 1, Defendant 2 and Defendant 3 promised to sell, sell and import the infringing products involved in the case without the permission of the plaintiff, constituting infringement of the patent involved. Therefore, the plaintiff believes that the defendant should bear the corresponding legal responsibilities, including stopping the infringement and bearing compensation liability.
According to the complaint, Defendant 2 is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Defendant 1 and is the filing entity of Infineon’s Chinese website. According to Infineon’s Chinese website, Defendant 3 is the value-added distributor of Defendants 1 and 2 in China.
