Probably general AI chip like Ascend architecturally different and more complicated than phone SOC. There was report before about Ascend low yield and recent report of Huawei using TSMC made AI chips through a third party.

Looks like mainly the result of scrutinizing huawei.
I'm really confused in the last couple of weeks by this report. Is there any evidence suggesting whether this report is true or not? Bloomberg recently has made a huge blunder by mixing up Ascend 910 and 910B in the report from Techinsights, which clearly tore down an AI accelerator with Ascend 910 fabbed in 2019, but Bloomberg thought the teardown was about Ascend 910B and drew the wrong conclusion.

Because of this, I don't have much confidence in the accuracy of such news pieces and would like to be extra careful. Similar things have happened before, where the Qingyun laptop released in 2023 was equipped with a chip fabbed via TSMC 5nm before sanctions, and these reporters quickly drew up news reports saying China advanced to 5nm already, which was beyond laughable back then.

如今,东风猛士917、广汽埃安2024款昊铂GT、极越07、吉利汽车旗下的翼真L380等新款车型,纷纷让红外设备“上车”。

Uncooled million pixel Infrared imaging sensors have become so cheap that many car models ADAS are now equipped with them. There has recently been an explosion of infrared imaging sensors of various materials and wavelengths in China. All the material/process used for infrared is very different from the standard Si cmos process for ICs

It was reported by Economic Daily News that Samsung has already notified its customers regarding the recent ban, but the Korean giant has refused to comment on the latest development.

Huawei helping in the upgrading of China semiconductor industry.

Huawei's digital base helps AMHS system to create new quality productivity in semiconductor manufacturing

ZUNXIN and Huawei have reached an in-depth cooperation. Relying on their rich resources and accumulated experience, the two parties have jointly created the "Huawei Digital Base Empowering AMHS System" solution for semiconductor smart factory scenarios. Focusing on intelligent manufacturing and smart logistics, the two parties jointly build a new ecosystem and new quality productivity for efficient interconnection in semiconductor manufacturing.

IC China 2024 will open on November 18 at the Beijing National Exhibition and Convention Center. ZUNXIN will jointly exhibit with Huawei and showcase this innovative solution.

Digital transformation accelerates the creation of a new paradigm for efficient interconnection in wafer manufacturing

Huawei Certified Solution Development Partner Certificate

In recent years, digital networked equipment, production lines, workshops and factories have developed rapidly, providing strong infrastructure support for the intelligent upgrade and innovative development of manufacturing enterprises. As a representative of new quality productivity, intelligent manufacturing has been deeply integrated with technologies such as artificial intelligence, IOT, 5G, and cloud computing. Zunxin has a precise insight into the development trend of industry technology, and through a strong alliance with Huawei, it has built a solution that uses Huawei's digital base to support the AMHS system. The solution integrates Huawei Kunpeng computing power server, Open Euler OS, Gauss database (Open GaussDB), high-performance routing architecture, and network equipment that supports WiFi 6/7, which comprehensively enhances Zunxin's self-developed AMHS system's capabilities in key aspects such as network, computing, and data management, and provides stronger technical support for the semiconductor manufacturing industry, especially wafer manufacturing companies.

In this cooperation plan between Zunxin and Huawei, an innovative CPE dual-transmission and selective-reception lossless roaming solution was adopted to break through the network connection problem under OHT high-speed roaming. This solution successfully broke through the data interconnection "blocking point" between the AMHS management terminal and a large number of manufacturing equipment, enabling Zunxin's existing advanced pathfinding algorithm to be seamlessly integrated with the overhead crane. Wi-Fi + CPE realizes wireless deployment of the entire production line ; the dual-transmission and selective-reception mechanism ensures that the overhead crane radio frequency is online in real time, ensuring "0" packet loss ; the lossless roaming mechanism breaks through the connection control barriers of thousands of OHT units, and improves efficiency by 100% through roaming path guidance, and the switching time between different routes is reduced from 50ms to only 10ms .

It's for AI-customers. Also expected that Intel will soon follow, which would mean that except SMIC, that would be a complete world-wide ban against providing chips to AI Chinese customers

Predicted that Alibaba would be hardest hit

IMO the game theory calculation needs to be seriously looked at
