it's been obvious for a while now that China at some point needs to part for Intel for security reasons. I would assume this means they are confident about domestic chipmaker making up the chip production demand.

They can also continue to buy from AMD until domestic chipmakers are fully able to supply things.

I mean this will just be another hit in Intel's foundry business. Which is probably what China would want here. Make American semi industry just entirely doing chip design.

I think the problem will be for Lenovo international business they will still rely on Windows on the international market and unless they come up with an ARM alternative for their PC business they will still rely on X86 CPUs from Intel and AMD

Currently one of the problems in ARM-Windows space is an exclusivity agreement Microsoft entered with Qualcomm years ago. It is rumored that agreement will expire by the end of this year. If that happens more companies will be able to enter ARM-Windows market.

Intel and AMD are probably already feeling the heat from it. Today Intel and AMD announced an x86 Ecosystem Advisory Group consisting of AMD, Intel and various hardware vendors including Lenovo.

On Tuesday, the two companies said they were forming an "advisory group" to change that, with Broadcom, Dell Technologies, Lenovo Group and Oracle, among others, joining as founding members.

The main issue is not PC chips, but rather the server chips and what all the cloud providers use. They need to start onboarding Huawei, Loongson and their own internally designed chips.

This had to be done, otherwise, HPC customers are moving over to domestic chips too slowly.

The thing is SMIC does not have enough FinFET production to replace X86 imports besides all the other chips they need to make.
What I do not get is why haven't they gone after Qualcomm yet. They have a known backdoor built-in to their chips.

The article details the 1000kg-class super-large sapphire crystal and 200kg-class ruby crystal successfully developed by Inner Mongolia Jinghuan Electronic Materials Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Jinghuan Electronics), a subsidiary of Jingshengji Electronics. The 1000kg-class super-large sapphire crystal is 800mm high, with a maximum bottom diameter of 650mm and a minimum shoulder diameter of 550mm. At the same time, based on the advanced R&D technology of synthetic sapphire crystals by the Kyropoulos method, the R&D team has successfully grown the largest synthetic ruby single crystal reported so far through unremitting efforts. The crystal is 415mm high, 285mm in bottom diameter, 275mm in shoulder diameter, and weighs 200kg.
