Tsinghua Unigroup released the world's first open architecture security chip E450R, as well as the automotive MCU with R52+ core​


On August 25, Tsinghua Unigroup released the world's first security chip E450R with open hardware + software architecture at the "2024 Tsinghua Unigroup Partner Conference" held in Beijing, as well as the country's first high-end flagship R52+ core automotive MCU THA6412 that has passed ASIL D product certification.

It is reported that thanks to the open, scalable and scalable design advantages of RISC-V, the E450R implements a new anti-attack mechanism, asymmetric cryptographic algorithm engine PKE and non-volatile memory NVM management, and the performance is as follows:
PKE algorithm speed increased by 50%, and performance remained unchanged when the number of key bits was expanded.
NVM erase speed increased by 15%, and more information can be stored in the same erase time.
The underlying hardware speed increased significantly, and typical application transactions increased by 50%.
Based on an open software architecture, E450R supports international standard languages for application development and provides a structured virtual machine to achieve platform independence. It also provides an instruction set for efficient use of application resources, reducing the application code size by 30% and increasing the application loading speed by 120%.

Xidian has made important breakthroughs in the field of logic operation devices​


Recently, Professor Zhu Zhangming's team at Xidian University has made important academic achievements in germanium-based integrated all-photon input logic operations. Compared with the traditional electrical logic operation architecture, the all-photon input logic device and architecture proposed by the team can not only reduce the number of transistors by 50%-95%, but also show great application potential in high-speed, high-throughput and complex data processing.
The team innovatively proposed a visible-infrared dual-band all-optical control logic operation architecture, which can realize five all-optical basic logic operation functions on the same unit, and verified the potential of this architecture in all-photonic image processing. By connecting two Ge/MoS2 devices in series, they expanded and realized a variety of complex all-optical logic operation functions. At present, this achievement has been published in an international authoritative journal.
The demand for computing in the digital economy era is showing explosive growth and diversification. As Moore's Law slows down or even fails, the number of transistors in integrated circuits is approaching physical limits, and it is impossible to further increase the speed and capacity of data processing by reducing the size of devices. Photonic logic operations have the advantages of ultra-large bandwidth, ultra-low power consumption and parallel computing, and are expected to break through the bottleneck of traditional computing methods.​

Interesting what node the chip is manufactured? I believe with very matured node, my guess is 55 to 90nm ?

China is taking all optical computation/communication seriously.

There is also the work on “all optical computation power network (算力全光网络技术创新与应用)”, the first item in the list of nominations for a national trade prize of year 2023. A while back, we also had news on all optical inter-satellite network in space, I believe also by Xidian.
