Loongson motherboards and CPUs now available for purchase globally on AliExpress. The price for what you get is terrible to be pretty frank but it should get a lot better as the industry develops over time.

The vendor on aliexpress is selling it much above what it is selling in China. JD is selling complete systems for 2700-3100 yuan (vs cpu + board for 380$). It's not a unreasonable price for business and government procurement. ChromeOS has a 5-10% traction in the US and it mostly ran webapps (now some android + linux via VM) with lower specs CPUs. It's possible for Loongson to develop into a similar niche in China.

“China’s [semiconductor] supply chain is still insufficient for high-end memory fabrication, with its growth mainly focused on mid to low-end solutions,” Woo said.

You know they're afraid and want to sugar coat their advantage.

How's it Chinese if all her manufacturing and intellectual property is in Europe? Or is it just owned by a Chinese company officially ?
It is basically a European company with Chinese ownership. But the Chinese parent, Wingtech, is also building chip factories in China.

Guangzhou Zengxin Technology's 12-inch advanced smart sensor and special process wafer manufacturing production line project was successfully put into production

On June 28, Guangzhou Zengxin Technology Co., Ltd. held a launch ceremony for the first 12-inch advanced smart sensor and special process wafer manufacturing production line in China in Zengcheng District, Guangzhou.

The Guangzhou Zengxin Technology 12-inch advanced intelligent sensor and special process wafer manufacturing production line project is located in Zengcheng Economic and Technological Development Zone. It took only 18 months from the start of construction at the end of December 2022 to the completion of the production line in June 2024, reflecting the "core" speed of Guangdong's major integrated circuit project construction. The first phase of the project has an investment of 7 billion yuan, with a planned monthly production capacity of 20,000 pieces. The mass-produced chips are mainly used in new energy vehicles, high-end equipment, artificial intelligence, industrial Internet and other fields. It is expected to deliver products to customers by the end of this year.
