I don't know when Intel will get 3nm, perhaps in 2026 .. they haven't managed to get to 7nm .. let alone 3nm
The nm nodes are just marketing, just recently Intel remarketed their 10nm to 7nm if I'm not mistaken, part of it is correct given their transistor density I'm told. So wouldn't be surprised if they can market something that comes close to TSMC 3nm specifications.

I think TSMC is at least 3 years ahead of Intel, in term of chip manufacturing .. and TSMC is 4-5 yrs ahead of SMIC, but this is mainly due to the availability of UEV machine to TSMC

All that to be able to say "hi" to a girl :p

Sounds like TSMC has been harvested if the 3nm intel rumor is true.
@BlackWindMnt bro a conspiracy theorist , maybe its self inflicted due to cost and threats? I find those behind had the motivation (SMIC) but the leaders having seen how they were treated felt dejected, who will be happy if somebody demand how you run your company and harvest that info, so many people believed that America is a land of golden opportunity well yeah IF YOU BECOME SUPER SUCCESSFUL your company will be seized little by little especially if your a foreigner of Asian descent, There is a bamboo ceiling and it will be enforce more with current American insecurity. My opinion The US are becoming more communist than the Chinese...lol

Yeah sure let me indulge in this conspiracy theory for a bit.

TSMC and Samsung are building those fabs in the US, so I wouldn't be surprised if the US will take over those fabs and repurpose them for Intel, the factory lines probably all use the same US/western made equipment and materials. The US also asked for TSMC and Samsung's order books, maybe it just to make sure Intel can be better prepare for when they need to take over those factories, and off course to steal some customers like Apple, Nvidia, AMD and Qualcomm. Maybe to also get some dirt on those companies so when the time comes to harvest those factories they have a lawfare option, just like they did with Meng Wangzhou. So intel is not actually building 1 but multiple factories, TSMC, Samsung and their own factories.

It will be covered like the Arizona factories are not profitable and Intel being a US company will buy it together with partners and the US governments for the Build back Better campaign. That's why I think the Intel, TSMC and Samsung already said those American factory are not profitable without tax incentives and subsidies, knowing the US recent behavior they will probably only give Intel those tax incentive and subsidy package because of National security. TSMC and Samsung will lose their future contracts from US big tech, so they are pretty much forced to sell those factories for pennies on the dollar to Intel and partners. I think this is what will play out in the second half of this decade.

All TSMC and Samsung have to do is install a secret poison pill into those factories- something that'll go unnoticed but annoying like 1 in every factory releases something like stuxnet into every other connecting fab if TSMC and samsung ar eno longer the ones controlling those factories.

Yes, this fits the MO of american behaviour.

@DarkStar @BlackWindMnt bro from what I read Apple is the main customer for TSMC 3nm chips and having difficulties, that difficulties may due to shortage of manpower with many project being implemented? TSMC success in 5nm really show its tech prowess and moving forward I know they can able to solve the 3nm problem, but surveying the cost and the Geopolitical aftermath where's the incentive? They know their being fleeced and would they work harder only to be harvested. I'm happy SMIC delisted in the US, it will have a great future with Gov't and Chinese tech company support. A State Champion that should belong to TSMC which she squandered.

TSMC remains extremely vulnerable as long as its equipment, particularly
lithography equipment, is purchased chiefly or exclusively from Western and American aligned on sources.
