@huemens So we have in total 5 cluster area 1) Beijing with its JING JIN JI 2)Shanghai and the pearl delta region 3) Guangdong with its greater bay area 4) Chengdu as part of western tech development and now 5) Qingdao is this all or I may miss something. This is what I call a major re armament program, Oops!!!! sound so militaristic let's say a major Tech Industrial program. So @horse bro your hypothetical estimate of 10 FABS is not beyond the realms of possibility in fact its a conservative estimate and the actually figure may be higher!
You missed Taiwan SAR as a new tech hub once it’s incorporated into greater China

@DarkStar yup forget that one....lol Bro the 14th 5 year plan for China IC development is massive, It seems China is really determined to do it alone, to prove something and damned the rest, always been lectured and held hostage by the West, it had become a bother and irritating and I think the goal of 70% self sufficiency is attainable. China made 2025 is a only a theme, a slogan, the West anxiety made it possible.

Someone said something once and it didn't work out so doing anything even 1% similar ever again in all of history must be evil despite how situation has changed.
Do you realize what the sentence that I replied to mean? I quote again "Won't take 5 years as that moves us past Made in China 2025 schedule.". You do realize how logically this is wrong regardless the said goal being achieved by 2025 or not? You are also aware that the Huawei embargo was new thing after the "made in China 2025" vision? How could you be certain that a plan will not be adjusted for an unforeseen challenge?

It all depends on what that "something" is. If that "something" is totally out of logic and fact, then it does not matter if time has changed or if it is 1% or 99% similar. Wrong does not become Right just because you repeat it ten thousand times.

We'll see what that result is.

I don't care of the end result because my point was never about that. My point was always "the logic behind the prediction", NOT "the result of that prediction". A good result can not justify a wrong methodology employed in the process. Back in the schools, one can get a right answer by plain lottery tactic, you know it, I know it, we all did it. It doesn't mean you know the answer before hand.

I do hope china can work together with other countries on things like this.
This is one where China has to go it alone; nobody has the expertise to help. The answer is to further educate and develop China because once China is a developed nation, it will naturally be like 4 USAs working togther, maybe more due to greater STEM major per capita in China than the US.
