Keep an eye on Huawei Precision unit. It's based at Wuhan. It's tasking for assembly of EUV scanner.

SMEE 90nm scanner used alot of foreign parts but 28nm criteria is almost all parts must be domestic. Foreign parts should be controlled under 1%.

Japan sanctioning China on equipments from all areas up to 45nm.

ASML will sanction the 3 models of DUVi 2000,2050,2100. This is besides the EUV.

I am proposing to folks that China should come up with banning of those sanctioned equipments from Japan and Dutch and US

This way it will preempt them from relaxing their rules in the future to catch Chinese market if they see China has something equivalent .

Any sanctioned equipments from US, Japan and Dutch will have no future in China market.

From this info from @Oldschool , I think we can surmised that SMEE SSA800 DUVL had the same spec level with ASML NXT 1980i, I may disagree with him though regarding the ban on NXT 2000i because to maintain its market share they have to sell something better than the local alternative.

Havok also confirmed.

SMEE's SSA800i all core components are domestically produced.

my brother @olalavn confirmed about SSA900i. could debut in 2024.

One thing: anything without a future in Chinese market will soon have no future in any global south market either.

Russia and Brazil will eventually want their own semiconductor industries, at least for mature nodes. Russia is already cut off and it's either use their old Soviet era equipment, pirate western equipment, or use Chinese equipment for new fab buildouts. Chinese equipment is the only scalable solution. Brazil is watching.

The stakes are now even higher with the rise, or hype, of AI, if US hawks and think tankers get their way they will create a world of have and have nots, a heavily regulated techno dystopian world where US big tech corpos, few western companies and few western governmental-military institutions become the gatekeepers of AI technologies locking every other nation from benefiting from it.

After seeing the sam altman congress hearing, my conspiratorial senses started to tingle, I can't even imagine what these corpos bosses are saying in private. If the regulatory hammer comes down NVIDIA and most AI hardware companies wouldn't be allowed to sell their AI hardware to the public, to be cloud provider any company will have to register basically with the NSA and the CIA, even fine tunning AI models will require a visit from the FBI, AI hardware will be only allowed to be exported to only 9 countries and obviously banned to sell to China. If AI technologies live to their hype for the rest of the world could be a techno-colonialist dystopia being sold as a national security issue.

For the Chinese is tools, tools, tools nothing but tools, they should move resources and people in their semiconductor industry as if they are in war.

China is the technological Prometheus that gave humanity the technology of fire that was hoarded by the gods.
