So since when is an ASIC "German optics"? Dumbass article. ASICs are chips. And in the case of this German company they seem to make ASICs for sensors and/or mechanical control.
Is even worse because Carl Zeiss and Berliner glas cannot sell their lithography optics to no one except ASML, he is confusing consumer grade optics with lithography optics.

Pure Technology: We have repeated orders for wet cleaning equipment in all 28nm process steps

1272838652525.55251274298693313.0396.png

According to news from Jiwei.com, recently, some investors asked a question on the investor interaction platform: Your company said that 212 million of the new orders signed in the first quarter of 2.1 billion were process equipment. Does it mean cleaning equipment? Your company's friend Shengmei said that the company's cleaning equipment has covered 90-95% of the cleaning process, and said that new customers accounted for a large proportion of this year's sales. What is the coverage level of your company's cleaning equipment and the trend of new orders for cleaning equipment in the semiconductor industry this year?

Zhipure Technology (603690.SH) stated on the investor interaction platform on June 29 that the company's process equipment covers various types of equipment in the semiconductor field, mainly wet cleaning equipment. The company's wet cleaning equipment has passed verification in all process segments of 28nm and has repeated orders. The company also took the lead in breaking through the monolithic SPM equipment that was originally monopolized by foreign countries.

As of press time, the market value of Zhichun Technology is 13.077 billion yuan, and the stock price is 33.90 yuan per share, an increase of 0.86% from the closing price of the previous day.

this is pretty good stuff. Well this and the ion implantation news. If they can cover all process segments of 28nm then basically all the "mature" process for different types of chips can be done with domestic tools. NAURA & AMEC likely cover even more than this, so we have domestic competition for different equipments and such. Exactly why you need to get lower cost & faster progress.

this is good too.

Looks like it covers all the base case you need for power chips. Which means it could be quite good for military radar.

Amid US pressure, Dutch announce new chip equipment export rules

Please, Log in or Register to view URLs content!

The Dutch government on Friday announced new rules restricting exports of certain advanced semiconductor equipment

The rules, which will require companies that make advanced chipmaking equipment to seek a license before they can export it, are expected to go into effect on Sept. 1.

ASML has said it expects the top section of models of its second most advanced "DUV" product line, which are used in the manufacture of computer chips, will require a license.

Amid US pressure, Dutch announce new chip equipment export rules

This actually came out not all that bad. I thought the restrictions would go in by start of July. They got two extra months here which should give ASML time to deliver more 2050i/2100i if Chinese fabs needed them. I suspect they will have all the advanced Arfi scanners they need for a couple of years. After all, 7nm processes only need the latest models for the most advanced steps.

If I was a fab in China, I'd stock up even the older models as fast as possible in case this thing gets even more restrictive and hope by the time I'm done, SMEE machines are fully up to par

Actually this looks to be more restrictive than I thought. So they want to block any Arfi scanners with US components from being sold to SMIC and presumably YMTC and such.

Well, if ASML wants to keep selling to China freely, they need to make sure their scanners are completely de-Americanized.

Or else, sell a bunch to lesser known fabs and those fabs can re-sell to SMIC later. My guess is that SMIC should have quite a few stocked up

Exclusive: US, Dutch set to hit China's chipmakers with one-two punch

June 29 (Reuters) - The United States and the Netherlands are set to deliver a one-two punch to China's chipmakers this summer by further restricting sales of chipmaking equipment, part of the countries' ongoing effort to prevent their technology from being used to strengthen China's military.

While the Dutch are planning to curb certain equipment from national champion ASML, and other companies, the U.S. is expected to go one step further and use its long reach

The Dutch government and ASML declined to comment, as did the U.S. Commerce Department, which oversees export controls.

The U.S. in October

export restrictions on shipments of American chipmaking tools to China from U.S. companies like Lam Research and Applied Materials on national security grounds, and lobbied other countries with key suppliers to adopt similar curbs.
Chinese Embassy spokesperson Liu Pengyu in Washington decried the move and said the U.S. "has deliberately blockaded and hobbled Chinese companies and forcibly relocated industries and pushed for decoupling," and said China would "closely follow the developments and firmly safeguard our own interests."

Japan, home to chip equipment makers Nikon Corp and Tokyo Electron Ltd, has

rules to restrict exports of 23 types of semiconductor manufacturing equipment that will take effect July 23.

The Dutch government plans to announce new regulations on Friday with a licensing requirement for the top tier of ASML'S second-best product line, deep ultra violet (DUV) semiconductor equipment. ASML's most sophisticated machines -- extreme ultraviolent "EUV" lithography machines -- are already restricted, and have never been shipped to China.

ASML said in March it expects the Dutch regulations to affect its TWINSCAN NXT:2000i and more sophisticated models.

But the company's older DUV models, like one called the TWINSCAN NXT:1980Di, could also be kept from about six Chinese facilities by the U.S. The facilities are expected to be identified in a new U.S. rule that will allow the U.S. to restrict foreign equipment with even a small percentage of U.S. parts to those sites, according to a person familiar with the matter. The person was not authorized to speak publicly.

The new Dutch regulations will not take effect immediately, sources said, with one person expecting the effective date to be September, two months after publication.
The planned U.S. rule, which sources said may be published by late July, will require licenses to export equipment to about a half dozen Chinese facilities, including a fab operated by SMIC, China's largest chipmaker, the person familiar with the U.S. plans, said. Licenses to ship the equipment to those facilities will likely be denied, the person said.

The U.S. rule is expected to apply to ASML, the world's leading chip equipment maker and Netherlands' largest company, because its systems contain U.S. parts and components.

It is not unusual for the U.S. to modify proposals before clearing regulations, so both the timing and the restrictions could change. The plan described reflects thinking in late June.

The U.S. is also expected to come out with other updates to its sweeping October rules in July, according to sources.

ASML is Europe's largest chip equipment company due to its dominance in lithography, one of the central steps in the computer chip making process.
Other companies that could be impacted by the new Dutch rules include atomic layer deposition firm ASM International. A spokesman for the Almere-based company declined comment ahead of Friday's announcement.

If is a small porcentage ASML could find ways to reduce that to zero, the big big problem is Japan because the only alternative to cymer is gigaphoton and if Nikon is going down to the grave that Japanese may decide to ASML go down with them as well, RSLaser could be an alternative but they are not an ASML supplier.

i think we talked about this a while ago, aside from using Gigaphoton instead of Cymber, anything else would need to be replaced?

@hvpc do you know?

well, I feel like it's all to buy time right? So if picking Gigaphoton gives SMIC another year of time, that's a huge bonus. None of these western options are permanent solutions. But as long as Dutch themselves are not blocking 100% of Arfi scanners, things can be worked out. Any business will try hardest to find alternatives and they will likely find them
