Regarding to Liang, I venture to guess that SMIC got it's hand tied down with US restrictions on equipments. So it's pointless to March forward with current path.
It's better if Liang goes to Huahong grace , the other Chinese fab to spread his 14nm, 7nm knowledge. Making this type of knowledge more spread out is better for China.

Any idea why SMEE didn't post that product in it's website product catalog? I don't see on their website.SMEE is currently mass producing a 65nm Dry Lithograph. This is probably what Huawei is using for their 45nm process.

Most companies don't post their entire catalog to keep a low profile. They only post a sample of their products. They will give you a full product catalog if you made a direct personal business contact with them and made clear your sincere relations in establishing a business connection and purchasing stuff to earn their trust as a serious customer.
Its not about avoiding the eyes of the US government, its more about trying to prevent another potential Chinese competitor getting knowledge of their stuff and copy them.

Western worship doesn’t happen for no reason though. There are so many reasons why people look up to western culture.Moon landing is certainly not a waste of money. Advancing in space creates advanced tech useful better missiles, better satellite, precision sensors, automated control and many more. But even without these benefits advancement in space creates a perception among Chinese that their country is strong in technology.
This soft power boost is extremely important to create a sense of patriotism and confidence. China's biggest problem internally is lack of self-confidence and western worship among the Chinese public. This creates situation where any chance a talented Chinese gets to go abroad, they do so and stay there. This is certainly not for China's development. Western worship also creates problems for Chinese companies who are not trusted by their own fellow countrymen. If Chinese products and Chinese innovation is not trusted then they will never be viable to replace the western products. Why Chinese semiconductor industry did not develop in the past? Its because Chinese companies did not trust Chinese made chips as reliable and advanced enough and when western alternatives were available, why not use them.
This is why PR stunts like moon landing and other advanced tech demonstrations are important because they show how the country is now advanced and on par with the west.
This is not something that’s going to change over night even as China’s economy eventually surpasses the US. In fact it is likely China will have the biggest economy, but with very little cultural appeal or soft power.
The best China can do is to slowly grow its hard power and over time change people’s perceptions.

Any update to Liang Mong Song's status with SMIC? Did he change his mind and decide to not resign, or has he already resigned and its a done deal?
He claimed he had a dangerous time in his life in June 2019, in his resignation letter. An attempt to take him out by some foreign actors?
His Family is in China so he is safe.
If he leaves China.......anything can happen.
There is talk UMC of Taiwan is interested in him.

Because of 5G application, AI and EV and rapid demand from China, SMIC and HUAHONG is having a bonanza year, 8 inch wafer(old tech)is having problem satisfying demands and with the plan expansion of SMIC, even with sanction I think SMIC will survived and come out stronger than before. So an advise to MR Liang please don't leave a winning team or you may regret your decision later.
