Interesting interview from Paul Triolo,he is regular guest of ijiwei

"China has to do everything from zero", without any explanation on why.
That is patently false, China already has many of the technologies to produce most chips on their own. When you ask this people what china lacks they usually fallback to lithography because their lack of knowledge but also because china already have most of the processing equipment necessary to make chips. What they lack is capacity to produce enough of this machines to mass produce chips, something that US companies have.
Even EUV lithography, the holy grail of semiconductor manufacturing, China is already one of the few countries in this planet with the ability to produce key technologies for this kind of systems.

Bro, where are you seeing this? Can you provide a link? I wouldn't be surprised if they are already producing n+2 for small mining chips.
Innosilicon are basically a company which provides design services for other chip design companies.
You can see the list of IP blocks they have for SMIC here.

lol... if he knew everything about China semiconductors... he would have sold his information to the CIA to Sanction China before China had all the chip manufacturing equipment now.
Sir the reason why SDF is so popular, cause members like yourself,@tokenanalyst @FairAndUnbiased @PopularScience @WTAN and other esteem members willingly share knowledge and wisdom with the rest of us. And I'm expecting him may join this forum to get info regarding Chinese IC. ;)

More on Moore threads. This is quite great actually. Very positive review here on the specs. Also quite interesting to read the comments. This is clearly a competitive GPU for gamers.

It is amazing to me that they can somehow create something like this with a 2 year old company while Zhaoxin has been around a long time and their GPU is a fraction of this S80's capability. Makes me think that they need a whole new group of CPU designers out there. Maybe someone like Alibaba will end up developing the best PC CPU (maybe based on RISC-V rather than ARM)

a lot about using S3000 to support metaverse and cloud computing. Interesting that they are so eager to get into Metaverse.
Also this is the world's first GPU supporting PCIe Gen5

Sounds like Moore thread has already been used by cloud companies. Even their first gen server GPU S2000 has scored a whole host of partners as you can see from this list.
China Mobile, China Telecom and China Merchant bank are among the first users of S2000 GPU.
Notice how even a 12 TFLOP GPU can get this many clients as long as its low powered and can be stacked together?

GPU cores are much simpler to design than CPU cores. The main problem is making the drivers and custom hardware I think. The software stack you need to have for a GPU today is just huge.

China has better CPU designers than the ones at Zhaoxin. Unfortunately Zhaoxin mostly rehash already poor CPU designs made by US Centaur. It is a bit of a waste of their X86 license they got from VIA which will likely expire soon if it did not already.
