Is there a source for this chart?
Some investment firm from years ago. Would be great to scale this out o/w feels a bit hard to keep track. Is there a source for this chart?
yep ..Japan's semi industry was easier to destroy because it was export driven and very dependent on the American market. You can bet that if Japan had 800 million people ,its semiconductor industry would be the biggest in the world and you'd never have heard of companies like ASML , LAM Research, or Applied Materials .DARPA form a consortium SEMATECH with ASML and TSMC to create and funded an EUVL to challenge the Japanese dominance. Now they want to recreate the same situation with CHIP 4, will they succeed, a big NO, the reason, aside from having a huge market, the Chinese are playing catch up and will employ a whole nation approach like what DARPA did to the Japanese.
The DOD through DARPA and industry through SEMATECH supported the ... Industry is counting on ASML's EUV lithography tools to restore the pattern of ...
Well AMAT and LAM are first movers. ASML might have never made it past Nikon and Canon though. Now Canon is competing with SMEE in back end and packaging lithography and Nikon is down to 1 customer - Intel.yep ..Japan's semi industry was easier to destroy because it was export driven and very dependent on the American market. Any other rows to add to this table. I guess EDA would be one green through 14nm. What about hard chemical / material inputs?
I didn't expect this. So basically if a US company develops a product entirely with it's Chinese subsidiary it's considered a Chinese product?Looks like Nvidia will design their AI chips in China. My guess is that AMD will do the same.
Just to be blunt despite all the talk in this thread we remain yet to see China come up with a domestic DUV capability. If they had one there’s no reason to keep it so quiet … there’s plenty of demand.
