Dam so China can now take on Samsung and Sony in the mobile photo sensor sector?

Spectral sensor isn't cmos sensor on your smartphone, they are different thing.

As for CIS on smartphone,China already has some local players.

OmniVision, Galaxycore, SmartSens. These are Chinese companies

Up until recently, OmniVision, Galaxycore, & SmartSens all are fabless companies. But now, Galaxycore will transition into a IDM and will make CMOS Imaging Sensors domestically with the launch of their new fab this year.

Here's a very recent news of Galaxycore with their first ASML scanner move-in:

I believed aside from Hisilicon 14nm 3D stacking chiplet there is a domestic breakthrough made by FINE MADE Electronics regarding 5G RF chips. So Huawei announcement of the Return of the King in 2023 did hold credence.

Hi everyone, welcome to the our EYES OF REAL CHINA channel. In the current mobile phone industry, we know that due to USA sanctions, Huawei cannot release 5G mobile phones, which can be said to be quite a pity! Although it has the world's leading chip design level and 5G patented technology, it is still subject to other restrictions, which is indeed very regrettable. In the final analysis, it is still the chip limitation, but it is not only the reason why the high-end Kirin chip cannot be foundry, the reason why the 5G mobile phone cannot be released is mainly the 5G radio frequency chip. Before, my country's 5G radio frequency chips had been reliant on foreign imports, and later shipments were restricted. Don't look at the small RF chips, which have been monopolized by foreign manufacturers such as Japan and the United States, and domestic mobile phone manufacturers need to import them. We all know that there is a big gap between my country and the United States in terms of chips. So, what is the situation of RF chips, and how difficult is it to break through? Recently, the Chinese company FINE MADE Electronic (FME) brought news of domestic 5G radio frequency chips, and Huawei ushered in hope. We all know that Huawei's phones have lost a lot of customers and market share because they don't have 5G capabilities. So, can China's Huawei take this opportunity to win back its global mobile phone market share? Can Huawei enter the public eye as a new 5G mobile phone giant?

I hope the company is just relying on American parts as a stopgap measure while waiting for domestic suppliers to come online..

Many times in life you have to know how to "make the best of a bad situation" (in European languages we have different way of saying regarding this concept, this is the English one). I'm quite confident there is something similar also in Chinese.
