More like oversaturated. There is no way that so many startups will survive. The industry is bound for consolidation.
So many companies want to make MCU but can they really compete against gigadevice . Many image sensor , isp , display drivers but there is no way that they can complete with omnivision or hisilicon. AI chip is another fad. And in compound semiconductor will they be able to complete against sanan or byd semiconductor. They VCs will get burned.
You can never have too much VC. All these companies are hiring scientists and engineers which will then get practical experience and become high-quality personnel.

Give it 3-5 years and after some consolidation and there would be a tremendous number of qualified and experienced people to drive forward the industry

This is excellent news. This confirms what the Huawei CEO mentioned earlier that Huawei will produce its own 28nm ICs this year.

The completion of the Huawei 28nm Chip production line is very significant.
It means that China has managed to develop an entirely Domestically made 28nm Production Line.
China is entirely self sufficient in production of 28nm ICs.
Next in line will be the Domestic 14nm Production Line.
@WTAN Sir a question, how many units of DUVL will SMEE produce this year 6 sets? 1 unit per 2 months? discounting the fact that a delay of 1 month due to Chinese new year?

And also is this the Shanghai FAB with collaboration with ICRD?

The dot-com bubble will like to differ with you. When consolidation happens it will be massive and the winners will be Alibaba , tencent , Vivo, oppo , hisilicon, omnivision and not some random startup. You can shit as much as you want on the BAT but you have to acknowledge the competency of their teams . They have much better software support, they can customize more, and have an unrivalled scale which startups can not offer.

Nothing wrong about it. The best startup should survive or big player could invest or acquire in the better ones.

Of course there is nothing wrong but the VC are spending so much money that some of them will go bankrupt if they invest like this.
So what? Are they spending your money?
VCs invest where they think that they can hit the jackpot.

Some will fail, some will succeed but in the end, they will generate value for China by developing high-tech enterprises along with thousands of qualified and experienced engineers and scientists.

TLDR: VCs are using their own money. If you are a VC investor and you have an issue about their investment strategy then you can complain to them

Jieqiao reaches MagicWick-Inside Platform license agreement with NeoGene Tech, stepping into ultra-thin and big-size vapor chamber device production

Suzhou-based professional thermal module maker, Jieqiao Electronics Technology, announces it has reached a formal technology license agreement with NeoGene Tech to adopt MagicWick-Inside Technology Platform for designing and fabricating ultra-thin vapor chamber products. By adopting such novel technology, Jieqiao is able to build Print Wick Structuring (PWS) production line in their Kunshan plant for making a series of ultra-thin vapor chamber devices with thickness ranging from 0.3max to 0.2max.

Wouldn’t necessarily say VCs are using their own money 100%. They could take out loans an pile on debt to fund their activities as well. Depends on how much risk VCs are willing to take, which could affect the greater economic a little bit if they have high debt and a lot of them flop out.

Absolutely this.
When compared to omnivision and hisilicon many startups are a joke.

Well that is how it usually goes globally. Vast majority of them will go bankrupt and the tiny amount that do make it usually get bought out by a bigger fish unless their business is super mediocre. China = more people = more startups = more failures vs others. So it’s hardly a surprise.
